Investigators were searching New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's North Attleboro, Mass., home in connection with the death of a man who police said was an associate of Hernandez, ABC News reported.
ABC News reports that Massachusetts investigators plan to interview Hernandez about the death.
During the search, two friends of Hernandez who were in the house tried to leave, but were stopped by state police. Hernandez has not been named as a suspect, but a rental vehicle with Rhode Island plates was found near the scene, which led investigators to Hernandez, SI.com reported.
Hernandez has been uncooperative with police since the body of a 27-year-old man was found in an industrial park not far from the Patriots player's home, two law enforcement sources told ABC.
A Patriots spokesman said, "I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation."
The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro, Mass., reported on Tuesday that police identified a rented 2013 Chevrolet Suburban with Rhode Island license plates in connection with the possible homicide, in the town 40 miles south of Boston. The paper reported the vehicle is registered to Enterprise and investigators were hoping to analyze it for fingerprints.
Hernandez, 23, caught 51 passes for 483 yards and five touchdowns last season. The 2010 fourth-round pick has 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career, getting named to the Pro Bowl in his second season.

Aaron Hernandez is not out of hot water. Far from it, according to WBZ-TV in Boston.
The New England Patriots tight end has not been ruled out as a suspect in a murder investigation North Attleboro, Mass., a law enforcement source told the network. Hernandez also isn’t cooperating with investigators.
Detectives from the state police were at Hernandez’s home Wednesday morning and there was no answer at the door. Hernandez and a woman left the house earlier and had no comment on the probe.

Hernandez was initially interviewed Tuesday after a jogger found the body of a 27-year-old Boston man less than a mile from Hernandez’s home, Sports Illustrated first reported. The victim, now identified as Odin Lloyd has been described as an “associate” of Hernandez, sources told ABC News.
Cops focused on Hernandez when they found a rented Chevrolet Suburban with Rhode Island plates – which was tied to his name – near the scene, a source told SI.
A Patriots rep declined to comment to The Post on Tuesday, but a team source said they did not believe Hernandez, 23, had any role in the homicide.
Hernandez, one of the premier tight ends in football, made 51 receptions last year with five touchdowns last season while battling injuries.

New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez was partying at a Boston bar Sunday night with the friend who was later found shot to death, according to reports.
Hernandez, victim Odin Lloyd, 27, and two other pals were at the watering hole and left together in one car, according to FOX 25 Boston. Hernandez was driving.
But only three made it home, the station reported.
Monday night, Lloyd was found shot to death at an industrial park about a half-mile from Hernandez’s house in North Attleboro, Mass., officials said.
A law-enforcement source told the station that Hernandez appears to be directly tied to the homicide — though he has not been named a suspect.

The tight end defiantly clammed up to cops yesterday and is refusing to cooperate with the investigation, according to WBZ-TV.

And the 6-1, 245-pound Hernandez is the target of another shooting accusation.
Hernandez’s former pal Alexander Bradley filed a federal lawsuit against the grid star yesterday, claiming Hernandez blasted him in the face, the plaintiff’s lawyer said.
“They were friends — he was a personal assistant, he did a little of everything for him,” Bradley’s lawyer, David Jaroslawicz, told The Post. “They went down there [to Miami] for some R&R.”
Bradley, a 32-year-old Connecticut resident, says he had been partying with Hernandez, 23, at Tootsie’s strip club in Miami on Feb. 13 when they got into an argument.
In the car, Hernandez allegedly took out his unregistered gun and fired at Bradley, striking him in the right arm and eye. Bradley says he lost his right eye and has gone under the knife several times to fix his badly damaged face and arm.
