Bradley Manning, the army private sentenced yesterday to 35 years prison for leaking classified documents says he wants to live the rest of his life as a woman.

In a statement obtained by the Today show, Manning said he wants to start hormone therapy straight away.

"I am Chelsea Manning. I am female,” the Army private said in the statement, which was read aloud by Manning's attorney on Today.

"Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition.”

"I also request that, starting today, you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun (except in official mail to the confinement facility).

"I look forward to receiving letters from supporters and having the opportunity to write back.”

We used to read about stuff like this 40 years ago, only it was in the National Inquirer. We knew everything in that rag was fake. Stories like this are becoming more and more common in this leftist "progressive" society we live in now.

I wonder if things ever were different or were they just not talked about? In other words, are people more strange than they used to be or do we just hear more about it?

Why would anybody want to show their dirty laundry to the world? Now a days we see many of our government leaders acting like they should be on the Jerry Springer show. What kind of example is that to set? If they can act like that why shouldn't I. If you don't think people think that way your wrong. They follow their leaders.

Yeah, I thought of saying weird.   Do you think that is better? But that isn't really it either. But you are right, it goes back to that bad is good and stupid is smart thing etc. we have talked about before. We didn't USED to air our dirty laundry as you said.

No wonder your mind is warped, you used to read the National Inquirer.  Maybe you should have picked up a real educational book when you were younger.   It's not too late for you right wing radicals, so go to the library and read something other than those tabloids that are piling up all over your house.

I also read Candy and Playboy (just the articles). I also read the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. Does Penthouse count? In my circle of friends I was the most well read. Plus my favorite color is eleven.

Let's all focus on the peregrinations of this poor, broken, man.

He waited until sentencing to announce this.

 

His treatments will be at taxpayer expense and his jail-time will go easier as a transgendered male.
