The University of Virginia said Wednesday that it will stop offering health insurance to some employees' spouses because of rising costs under ObamaCare.

The university said the Affordable Care Act will add $7.3 million to its healthcare costs next year. It indicated that it
could face additional costs in the future because of the law's tax on especially generous insurance policies."

There will be "free" single payer healthcare, with all its creepy surveillance, by 2020.

The University of Virginia appears to be changing the contract with their employees and using Obamacare as a scapegoat. Their insurance costs probably would have gone up $7 million next year anyway. There is no doubt that health care inflation has slowed down in this country over the last couple of years.

Eighty House Republicans collectively sent their party’s leaders a letter Thursday urging them to draft legislation to defund President Obama’s health care reform act, the latest GOP salvo against the administration’s signature legislation.

The letter, sent to House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio and Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, calls for the House to “continue our efforts to repeal Obamacare in its entirety this year, next year and until we are successful.”

“Obamacare is not ready, and the way it is being implemented is not fair,” said North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, who spearheaded the effort. “By choosing to delay the employer mandate, President Obama demonstrated he knows the law is unworkable. If big businesses get a break, hardworking individuals and families deserve the same relief.”

Delta Airlines must be using Obamacare as a scapegoat too…freakin racists.

Apparently the higher ups at Delta are misguided.  They believe they are an airline in business to make money and transport travelers.  They don’t understand they are in business to provide jobs and healthcare.

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2013/08/22/delta-warns-obamacare-will-cost-it.html

Delta Air Lines Inc. expects Obamacare will cost it $100 million in 2014 and warned the law will “provide real challenges for both our company and our employees,” according to a letter it sent in June to the Obama Administration.

“...make no mistake -- the costs imposed on Delta and our employees are very real and they are escalating,” the letter reads. “The costs mentioned above, when combined with normal medical inflation and the end of the ERRP program mean that the cost of providing health care to our employees will increase by nearly $100 million next year. Delta will have to absorb the vast majority of that increase in costs so that we continue providing a high value, quality health plan, but some of it will have to be shared with our employees as well. And of course, the balance that the company pays simply means less left over for other investments that make our business stronger.”

The only thing the Delta article is telling me is that they're going to use Obamacare as an excuse to diminish their employee's benefits. It's really a shame that the conservative extremists in this country are in their final desperate throes at getting rid of legislation they have no chance of getting rid of. This childish and irrational behavior gives new meaning to the term sore loser!

Medical claims at UVA have been going up about $7 million a year since 2008:

http://www.dailyprogress.com/news/uva-to-drop-insurance-coverage-for-employees-spouses/article_268909ac-0ae2-11e3-9dcb-001a4bcf6878.html

And less than half of the $100 million that Delta is whining about is because of Obamacare. (despite a $1 billion profit last year) The rest is normal medical inflation, according to the article, and the first guy's comment was that it equates to 63 cents a ticket.

I have an idea: Why don't we try to figure out why healthcare in the USA is twice as expensive as around the rest of the world, and why don't we try to figure out why healthcare inflation is four times that of regular inflation No, the sore losers would rather replace Obamacare with no plan at all!

The people in this country figured it all out correctly, and Obama won the election.

How about preferential pricing for surgical devices and technology made by only a select few manufacturers?

How about preferential pricing for drugs?

How about an antiquated fee for service model that starts the meter running when one enters a hospital?

How about doctor's salaries?

How about insurance brokers and lawyers?

And yes, how about fraud? Medicare should have enough people on staff to oversee claims for legitimacy.

Hate to say “I told you so”, but we officially have our first major retail company cutting its employee hours in order to avoid paying for health care. Our concerns about the Affordable Care Act seem to finally be materializing. Forever 21, a popular clothing company, is now demoting full-time employees to part-time positions.

The non-management level employees will now be limited to 29.5 hours each week, which falls just below the 30-hour minimum that ObamaCare deems as full-time work. Well gee, what a coincidence!

In a message to their employees, Associate Director of Human Resources Carla Macias wrote that the company “recently audited its staffing levels, staffing needs, and payroll in conjunction with reviewing its overall operating budget”. It went on to say that these full-time employees will no longer be full-time effective August 31.

Wegmans grocery chain has reportedly cut health care benefits for part-time workers, citing changes brought about by President Obama's signature health care reform law.

Employees of the Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer told The Buffalo News that part-time health benefits had been cut and that the company had told them the decision was made as a result of ObamaCare.

The company, which employs 1,433 full-time employees and 4,304 part-time employees in the Buffalo Niagara region, declined to comment on the specific changes to employee health coverage, the newspaper reported.

First UPS, now the University of Virginia Empty 7 Companies That Have to Lay Off Employees to Deal With Obamacare

Post  fshnski Fri Aug 23, 2013 2:34 pm

In recent months, Obamacare has hit innumerable roadblocks, including strong opposition from unions and multiple delays in implementing its provisions. However, one overarching problem with the law is its mandate that companies “offer health care coverage to employees who work at least 30 hours a week.” This may sound great in theory, as it means health care coverage for everyone, right? Wrong.

What this actually means is that unemployment will skyrocket. Rather than pay for employee health insurance and exploding premiums, it makes much more sense for these businesses which are already struggling under President Obama’s crushing regulations and taxes, to lay off workers, or reduce workers’ hours below the 30 hour per week mark. If you think unemployment is bad now, take a look at how much worse it is going to become. Innumerable companies are making big changes because of taxes implemented by Obamacare, while others are laying off workers. Will your company be next?

Yes, but not terribly disappointing. The majority opinions here represent a minority of New Hampshire. We collectively voted for a Democratic President, 2 Democratic Congresswomen and a Democratic Governor in 2012. The only Republican we have left is Senator Kelly Ayotte, and I wouldn't be surprised if she gets voted out in 2016. Interestingly, our entire congressional delegation and governor are all women, and we might add a female president to the list in 2016!!

That's what Obama SHOULD have done, you finally agree with us!!!!  He should have figured out why healthcare in the US is twice as expensive as the rest of the world and try to figure out how to make it more affordable not more expensive --as Obamacare is doing.
