Six-clawed lobster finds new home in Maine
WEST BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine —What Lola wants, Lola gets, especially if Lola is a four-pound lobster with six claws.

The unusual lobster arrived at the Maine State Aquarium in West Boothbay Harbor on Thursday from Massachusetts, according to Aquarium Manager Aimee Hayden-Roderiques.
Lola was donated to the aquarium by the crew of the fishing vessel Rachel Leah. Capt. Peter Brown and lobsterman Richard Figueiredo caught the lobster off the coast of Hyannis.
Hayden-Roderiques said five of the lobster's claws are arranged in a starfish pattern on one side with the normal claw on the other side.
"This claw deformity is a genetic mutation," Hayden-Roderiques said. "Sometimes they have this throughout their life, sometimes this happens during a regeneration from a damaged or lost claw."
The aquarium has three other lobsters with similar deformities, two of which are on display, Hayden-Roderiques said.
Lola is adapting well to her new surroundings and is in her own tank, Hayden-Roderiques said. The aquarium expects that Lola will be displayed within the next few days.
Located at 194 McKown Point Road, the aquarium is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday through Sept. 29.
