Nashua clerk fired after pulling gun on would-be robber

Post  fshnski on Wed Oct 16, 2013 11:33 am

NASHUA, N.H. —A gas station clerk was fired after he pulled a gun on a man who was trying to rob the store.

Bear Cothran was working at the Shell Station on Main Street in Nashua about 3 a.m. when he said a man with knife walked in.

“The thug came in. (He was) heavily clothed, masked, and with a knife, came around the counter and threatened my life,” Cothran said.

“By his posture, the way he was acting, just a general level of hostility, I had every reason to believe that regardless of whether or not he got the money out of the till, he was still going to attack me.”

Cothran said he pulled out his firearm.

“(I) took several steps back, produced my firearm and told him, ‘This was a bad idea. (You) didn’t want to continue this course of action.’ At which point, he backed off and left,” Cothran said. “Honestly, all he said was, ‘Alright, alright,’ and backed off.”

The man has not been caught.

Cothran said he has a permit to carry a concealed firearm, and he was also well aware of the company policy against weapons at work, but he was fired from the job he’s held for 10 years.

“My life was in danger. I acted accordingly. I just wanted to come home and see my family,” Cothran said. “My boss and my district manager both went to bat for me. (They) tried to save my job for me. It came down to a corporate decision.”

Many customers are outraged over the decision.

As usual the bad guy is the good guy in this society. It is illegal to try to protect yourself and your property.

If you don't obey the company rules that you agreed with when hired, then go some place else to work.

There is no excuse for the man to have a weapon when he agreed not to.

IMO the man was just waiting for a time to pull out the gun and show people what a hero he is.

I'll bet there wasn't even a robber involved, the guy probably just wants attention so he can show that he is a big man with a gun.

A local pastor pulled a gun on a man authorities say was trying to rob a clerk at an east side Dollar General Store.

He was able to hold that man until authorities arrived.

Pastor Carl Sanders and he simply says he was in the right place at the right time, just doing God's will. Pastor Sanders tells 14News that he went to the Dollar General Store on Lincoln Avenue for a Gatorade, but people are now calling him a hero. Pastor Sanders says he noticed that the store was quiet when he pulled up, and when he walked in, he saw why the hold-up in progress. Pastor Sanders says the suspect, 25-year-old Jermaine Marshall, turned to him and threatened him with something that looked liked a weapon. That's when Pastor Sanders pulled out his own firearm.

"I told him don't move, put your face down on the ground and don't even look at me right now. I just told him this is out of love," Pastor Sanders told 14 News.

Pastor Sanders says he plans on visiting Marshall sometime soon.

We'll have more from Pastor Sanders coming up on 14 News after the football game.

Good afternoon, I'm Paul R. Beane and I'm your right wing gun nut.

You know me and fellow gun owners are responsible for all the carnage in our streets and our schools.
Never mind that Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my entire collection of firearms.
Most of which I have owned since childhood when I saved my pennies and nickels in order to purchase them and each and every   one is in perfect working order.

It is the responsible gun owners of today that is being blamed for all the shootings.
Obama calls us the right wing gun nuts, clinging to our guns and to our religion.
But lets take a little closer look.

The Fort Hood shooter, a Muslim, and a registered Democrat.

The Virginia Tech shooter, he wrote hate mail to George Bush and his staff and was a registered Democrat.

Aurora Colorado shooter, he was a staff worker on the Obama campaign and took part in Occupy Wall Street.
He was a progressive liberal and guess what? A registered Democrat.

The Newtown, Conn shooter hated Christians and was a registered Democrat.
The Columbine high school shooters were too young to vote, but both of their families were progressive liberals and registered Democrats.

And one more thing,

not a single one of these killers were members of the National Rifle Association.
So I have got it figured out how to make this country much safer;
leave the guns alone and lock up all the Democrats.

I'm Paul R. Beane and that's the way I see it
Cool

All Democrats huh? And in the first few hours of almost every one of them the news media was saying it was a right wing gun nut. The media is ruining this country.
