Hospital coverage Empty Re: Hospital coverage

Post  News Buzzard Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:31 pm

Your link won't open unless you're a subscriber, but the report is accurate. I would rather have health insurance that the top hospitals may not accept rather than no health insurance at all. That's the purpose of Obamacare, to get people health insurance, but you won't hear of anything that is attached to Obama. The good news is that you'll have 3 more full years to complain about him, and by then Obamacare will be running smoothly for Hillary to take over!!

Hospital coverage Empty CBS Notices 'Another Problem' With ObamaCare – Higher Deductibles; ABC, NBC Omit

Post  fshnski Mon Dec 09, 2013 1:42 pm

NORAH O'DONNELL: The Wall Street Journal says health insurance customers are finding another problem under ObamaCare. The new generation of policies have higher deductibles. Consumers have to pay more of their own money before insurance kicks in. The average deductible for the lowest level of insurance on HealthCare.gov is more than $5,000.

Scism and Martin detailed how the report from HealthPocket Inc., "a company that compares health-insurance plans for consumers", analyzed the health care plans in 34 out of the 36 states that haven't set up their own exchanges under the controversial health care law. The report also underlined that the $5081 average cost is "42% higher than the average deductible of $3,589 for an individually purchased plan in 2013 before much of the federal law took effect."

The Wall Street Journal correspondents also noted how "'cost-sharing' subsidies to help pay deductibles are available to people who earn up to 2.5 times the poverty level....[but] the cost-sharing subsidies for deductibles don't apply to the bronze policies."

Six days earlier, the December 3, 2013 edition of CBS This Morning also underlined the continuing problems with the ObamaCare website, even after the White House claimed "it met its deadline to make HealthCare.gov work smoothly for the vast majority of shoppers". By contrast, NBC's Today that same morning ballyhooed the supposed positive news about the online health insurance clearinghouse.

Hospital coverage Empty Re: Hospital coverage

That's pretty old news from what I've been reading, and a $5 thousand deductible is much better than a $175 thousand bill. It's no accident that medical bills are the biggest cause of personal bankruptcies in this country. Obamacare has created a class structure of haves and have nots, in that lower income citizens in states that have refused the Medicaid expansion still won't be able to get health insurance. This will eventually come back to bite the Republican governors and legislatures in those states!

The article was in the Wall Street Journal yesterday! It must have been a long time ago when you had an average American income. That $5,000 dollars is for the lowest policy! Maybe you should read the article again.

I came to that conclusion from reading Healthcare.gov a month ago. I didn't have to read any media reports. A $5 thousand deductible is a monthly payment arrangement between patient and provider. A $175 thousand bill is a personal bankruptcy where you and I then get to pay the bill through our personal taxes. That's the point of Obamacare that you guys seem to be whiffing on!!

I don't know a single soul who went bankrupt to the tune of $175,000 dollars. I do know many that could not afford a $5,000 deductible.
obama has been whiffing on every thing he has tried to do.

People don't want to pay for someone else's healthcare. Under the old system WE all paid for their emergency services.  Under Obamacare we will pay for emergency services AND comprehensive healthcare.  No matter how you cut it, we will pay more…a lot more. People who PAID for insurance they liked will now be forced to pay higher premiums and higher deductibles for coverage they don’t want or need.

Do you really believe Obamacare will come more popular over time?

Where the left has “whiffed”…

What happened to "If you like your insurance you can keep it period". What happened to insurance would go down by $2500. Obama even told one group of supporters on the campaign trail Obamacare would reduce their employer cost by 3000% and then the employer could afford to give them a raise.  The left has eliminated these promises from Obamacare and focus on only one.  Giving free healthcare to the poor.

Obama lied because he knew would never be able to sell the “Affordable” Care act on the truth.  Most people understand if you increase demand and lower supply, you get higher prices.

Who needs death panels when you can exclude the majority of the population from the best healthcare and then blame it on the insurance companies?

Does it bother libs that only the wealthiest among us will be able to afford the best healthcare?

Nothing bothers them. Most Democrats make it quite obvious they can't be embarrassed or shamed. Look what they stoop to to get votes, and these voters take right after their leaders. The leaders of our country that have been caught in way too many lies. Caught in a baldfaced lie and that doesn't even bother them.

I'm still trying to figure out how a $5 thousand bill is more harsh than a $175 thousand bill.  scratch

Now it's prescription drug coverage that is the issue. If you like your drug you can keep it. I guess not. Or maybe.

Both Emmanuel brothers are saying the same thing about Obama's proclamation:

You CAN keep your doctor, but you'll have to pay extra for it!
