Obama: "Human Trafficker in Chief”

Post  News Hawk on Sun May 25, 2014 7:53 pm

On the eve of Memorial Day, and against the backdrop of the rapidly growing Veterans Affairs hospital scandal, do illegal aliens get better treatment than US military veterans?

Sarah Palin seems to think so.

Given the number of vets returning home from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in particular, systemic problems with the VA date back before the Obama administration, of course. But contrary to recent assertions, it reportedly turns out that the president’s inner circle knew there were issues at the VA even before he took office. “The Obama administration received clear notice more than five years ago that VA medical facilities were reporting inaccurate waiting times and experiencing scheduling failures that threatened to deny veterans timely health care” — problems that have turned into a growing scandal. Veterans Affairs officials warned the Obama-Biden transition team in the weeks after the 2008 presidential election that the department shouldn’t trust the wait times that its facilities were reporting.

According to one naval officer, Al Qaeda detainees at the Guantanamo Bay jail even receive better medical treatment than vets.

Many other observers have pointed out that the VA is a precursor to what it would be like under government-run healthcare for the civilian population of the country at large.

But are illegals also getting better benefits than returning soldiers? Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, posted this contention on her Facebook page:

"Compliance with these un-American acts in this Obama Era deserves the scorn of citizens; we will do all we can to oust those who follow the Obama/Pelosi/Reid lead on disgusting treatment of our military and red carpet treatment of their law-breaking chosen ones.”

Palin linked her posting to a column by Michelle Malkin highlighting a litany of benefits costing millions of taxpayer dollars being afforded to illegal immigrants. Summarized Malkin: “A government that fails to secure its borders is guilty of dereliction of duty. A government that fails to care for our men and women on the frontlines is guilty of malpractice. A government that puts the needs of illegal aliens above U.S. veterans for political gain should be prosecuted for criminal neglect bordering on treason… America: medical and welfare welcome mat to the rest of the world, while leavings its best and bravest veterans to languish in hospital lounges, die waiting for appointments, and compete for jobs and educational opportunities against illegal border-crossers, document fakers, visa violators and deportation evaders. Shame on us.”[/u]

This is the problem-the money is not spent on the veterans but on niceties for the bureauracy.  This is why the gov. can't run anything.  I heard on the radio last night the VA has increased a lot 78 (billion?)in the last six years while the Defense Dept has not increased at all.  So it is not a question of enough money but HOW THE MONEY IS BEING SPENT!!!!

President Barack Obama has increased the Department of Veterans Affairs’ budget each year since he took office, claiming the funds would give veterans the health care they deserve. However, an analysis of records show the agency has spent close to $500 million on office furniture under the Obama administration.
This upcoming fiscal year Obama requested a 3 percent increase for the Veterans Affairs budget. Obama’s FY 2015 budget request points out he has increased the VA discretionary budget by 35.2 percent since 2009 so veterans continue to access necessary services.
“VA’s 2015 budget provides the necessary resources to allow us to serve our veterans who selflessly served our nation,” stated the president’s FY 2015 budget.
As the embattled agency faces charges of record tampering and neglect of veterans, records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show the VA has not neglected upgrading and decorating its offices throughout the country.
The VA has %2C"fyear"%3A["2014"%2C"2013"%2C"2012"%2C"2011"%2C"2010"]%2C"psc_code"%3A["Y1AB"%2C"7110"]%2C"psc_cat_ignored"%3A["Y"]%2C"extent_competed"%3A["D"%2C"F"%2C"B"%2C"A"%2C"CDO"]%2C"dept"%3A["3600"]%7D&sort_by=dollars&per_page=25]spent a total of $489 million to upgrade conference rooms, buy draperies, and purchase new office furniture during the past four-and-a-half years.
A total of 15,010 contracts were awarded for office furniture by the VA for Fiscal Years 2010 through 2014.
“This is just one of many misplaced priorities at the VA, and unfortunately, I think we’ve only begun to scratch the surface,” Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas) said in an emailed statement. “I will not stop until the VA is investigated top to bottom, and new leadership is brought in to clean up this dysfunctional agency.”
One contract awarded $6.8 million for construction of a conference room and facilities at its Carol Stream, Ill., office. That renovation is ongoing and is expected to be completed next April.
The VA’s San Juan, Puerto Rico office spent $1.8 million on new office furniture, and one of its Virginia offices spent $1.9 million on “systems office furniture.” That project is expected to be completed at the end of this month.
Another $1.4 million is currently being spent on a yearlong third floor renovation project for the “design, purchase/installation of furniture” in Saint Petersburg, Fla. That is expected to be completed on Sep. 17. The Free Beacon found a second contract for the same office signed earlier this year in which $267,131, for “non-upholstered wood household furniture manufacturing.”
The VA also spent $1.8 million for “systems furniture” in Philadelphia; $1.8 million for “multi-functional, mobile, enhance learning space” in Tampa; $1.8 million for “showcases, partitions, shelving” for its Los Angeles office.
To make the office makeovers complete, draperies, roller shades, and cornice boxes were also purchased. The VA spent $10.7 %2C"fyear"%3A["2014"%2C"2013"%2C"2012"%2C"2011"%2C"2010"]%2C"psc_code"%3A["7230"]%2C"psc_cat_ignored"%3A["Y"]%2C"extent_competed"%3A["D"%2C"F"%2C"B"%2C"A"%2C"CDO"]%2C"dept"%3A["3600"]%2C"naics_code"%3A["337215"%2C"314121"%2C"541410"%2C"337920"%2C"442291"]%7D&sort_by=dollars&per_page=25]million in the past five fiscal years on curtains and draperies.
Some of those contracts include $454,085 for “cubical curtains and draperies” for its Brecksville, Ohio, office. The Pittsburg, Pa., VA office spent $382,879 on window shades which were just installed in January.
Instead of draperies, the VA’s Los Alamitos office preferred cornice boxes and roller shades. The contract shows they spent $106,615 on its window treatments.
The Free Beacon also found pricey filing system expenditures. For example, $1.7 million was spent on a filing system for the California office. The reason the VA is spending high amounts on filing systems is unclear, since Obama’s FY 2015 budget included $138.7 million in Veteran Claims Intake Program for the conversion of paper documents into eFolders.

It's really convenient to have selective memory !

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/27/us-usa-veterans-congress-idUSBREA1Q26O20140227

The bill would have created 27 new medical facilities to treat veterans. And what about the House Armed Services Committee ? Isn't the House controlled by Republicans, so where do they stand in terms of also accepting responsibility for this debacle?

It's so much easier to just point the finger at Obama !

This comment found on the web says:

I have worked for the VA for 25 years as a pharmacist. If a patient wants to talk to a pharmacist he will talk to a pharmacist. The same can be said for the Doctors and Nurses.

The majority of the care givers do a great job under most difficult circumstances. I would also estimate that about 20% should be fired tomorrow morning.

The VA brings out the best in most care givers. It also brings out the worst in a few. I personally know many nurses and doctors and pharmacists that have given many hours of work without any compensation for their off the clock hours. I know one doctor that will actually make house calls for the Vets. They as I do it for the Vets.

Those Vets are the ones that picked up MI Garands, M16s, climbed into tanks, hit beaches, fought in rice paddies, deserts, and jungles, flew B17s, B24s, B29s, Sabers, F4s, F100s, F104 etc. Many of those died in the deserts, paddies, jungles and many of those planes and men did not return to home base or return at all. Even more returned with terrible physical injuries and mental trauma. I serve and love those vets.

The problem with the VA is a vast overbearing inefficient buearocracy that makes it very difficult for us to provide quality care for our warriors.

The problem is not one of money if the budget were spent wisely. The problem is government buereoracy that can not be solved by government.

However the solution is not difficult but politically very difficult.

The VA has great facilities and "mostly" great personel working there. We should turn the VA over to private interprise to run the facilities on a for profit basis. The governments only role should be to make sure these funds are spent properly and most importantly give the vet access to quality care. If a facility is substandard it should be closed and the vets diverted to private facilities. If a private enterprise has true and free authority to fire the few bad employees we would not need to close any VA as it would quickly come up to a high standard.

2005, What Obama Said...

Post  News Hawk on Mon May 26, 2014 3:51 pm

He stated: “The bottom line is: Are veterans being impacted in terms of their health care? I would be deeply disturbed if it turns out that as a consequence of this, what you say is managing this budget shortfall, turns out to be simply scrimping on the care that we’re providing our veterans. So I’d like a specific answer to that.”

Ten years of not doing anything...

Will the Veterans Administration scandal wake up those people who have been blithely saying that what we need is a "single payer" system for medical care? Delays in getting to see a doctor have been a common denominator in government-run medical systems in England, Canada and Australia, among other places.

Class warfare rhetoric would have us resenting "the top ten percent" in income. But that would be a farce, because most of us would be resenting ourselves, since more than half of all Americans — 54 percent — are in the top ten percent at some stage of their lives.

Some people act as if the answer to every problem is to put more money and power in the hands of politicians.

Freedom means nothing if it does not mean the freedom to do what other people don't like. Everyone was free to be a Communist under the Stalin dictatorship, and everyone is free to be a Muslim in Saudi Arabia. Yet whole generations are coming out of our colleges where only those who are politically correct are free to speak their minds. What kind of America will they create?

In Thomas Piketty's highly-praised new book, "Capital in the Twenty-First Century" he asserts that the top tax rate under President Herbert Hoover was 25 percent. But Internal Revenue Service records show that it was 63 percent in 1932. If Piketty can't even get his facts straight, why should his grandiose plans for confiscatory global taxation be taken seriously?

Sometimes I think that this is an era when sanity has become controversial.

A Military Veteran's Close-up Study of Socialized Medicine...

Post  News Hawk on Mon May 26, 2014 4:57 pm

What our country needs now, more than ever is real leadership, someone who doesn’t wait for a crisis, but is able to foresee an issue and deal with it before it happens. Unfortunately for America, you’ve been too busy campaigning and don’t have time to deal with the health care crisis of our veterans. The only thing you seem to care about is your own radical agenda, and now our vets are paying for your negligence with their lives.

As I sit here typing this out I’m dealing with my own VA nightmare which involves the Phoenix VA.  I have given 3 limbs for this country, but apparently that is not enough.  A “clerical error” made by a VA employee has resulted in nearly a year of abuse and mismanagement of my case. In other words, the VA is stealing over $7000 from my disability compensation that I earned when I lost 3 of my limbs for our country.

On this Memorial Day, as I battle your incompetent bureaucrats my family would like to thank you for once again failing our veterans. We can’t help but wonder about the disastrous socialized medicine program that we will surely be dealing with if Obamacare is allowed to be fully implemented. If our incompetent VA cannot handle government healthcare for a fraction of our population, who would be foolish enough to believe a massive health care system designed to provide health care for all American’s would be any different?  You can’t even find someone to build a competent website to work for your socialized medicine program when you had your name attached to it, so why would you care about our veterans when you could so easily push the blame off on someone else?

$1B in malpractice settlements as horror stories revealed.

The problems at Veterans Affairs extend well beyond long wait lists, with a report Tuesday showing the department is plagued with poor care that has cost up to 1,000 veterans their lives and left taxpayers on the hook for nearly $1 billion in malpractice settlements since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Some of the problems detailed in the report by Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma are downright ghoulish. They include the case of a former security chief at a New York Veterans Affairs medical center whom the FBI arrested on charges of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder women and children.

More standard is the nightmarish bureaucratic bungling that shows a department in disarray and a culture more concerned with punishing whistleblowers than with fixing the problems they pointed out, said Mr. Coburn, Senate Republicans’ chief investigator who has earned a reputation as the top waste-watcher in Congress.

“The problems at the VA are worse than anyone imagined,” Mr. Coburn said. “Over the past decade, more than 1,000 veterans may have died as a result of VA’s misconduct and the VA has paid out nearly $1 billion to veterans and their families for its medical malpractice.”

The VA has come under fire in recent months over reports that dozens of veterans died while stuck on secret waiting lists at a VA facility in Phoenix. Since then, an inspector general’s investigation has found widespread misuse of secret wait lists in a number of facilities. The department’s secretary has resigned..."

For review:

Obama didn’t know about the Fast and Furious scandal.

Obama didn’t know about the IRS targeting conservatives.

Obama didn’t know about HealthCare.gov failing.

Obama didn’t know about the NSA spying on foreign leaders.

Obama didn’t know about Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.

Obama didn’t know HE drew the red line in Syria.

Obama didn’t know about the crisis at our southern border.

Obama didn’t know some people would believe him when he said “you can keep your health insurance.”

Obama didn’t know about the VA scandal.

Obama didn’t know about the Islamist militants gaining in Iraq

Obama didn’t know about the DOJ obtaining AP phone records.

I may have missed a few….

I'm not sure what bothers me more, the fact that incompetence exists at such high levels....or that Obama & Co.actually have the courage to stand before the world and tell over and over that actually don't know what's going on.

That might be the most honest post you have ever had on Obama.

You identified Obama’s only accomplishments and then gave credit for those truly responsible, the republicans.

Fortunately for you, your time defending Obama is coming to an end (it had to be exhausting). You will soon need to pivot your loyalty to Hildabeast.  Very Happy

That problem started 50 years ago. The Mexicans came here to work and they found employment. What a great deal for an employer back then! They would pay the kid cash, below minimum wage standards, and not have to pay any payroll taxes or workmen's compensation. A lot of people got rich from Mexican labor, and today the right wing does nothing but point the finger at Obama. What about all of the employers?

In New York all you saw years ago was Mexican labor. They worked in restaurants, cut lawns and did construction. An employer's profit margin goes way up without having to pay the payroll taxes and insurance. If it was like that in New York I'm sure it was like that in big cities all over the country. The Mexicans then got screwed by ruthless landlords, who would put many residents in one house for a big price. Now they have grown children who were born here, US citizens, and we are still spinning our wheels about immigration reform. I don't get it.

Obama has been saying since 2007 his goal was amnesty. Once elected, Obama used his pen to let them stay. Obama released 36,000 illegals convicted of crimes from prison and then paraded a chemical engineer on stage and represent her as the average illegal in an attempt to mislead the public about who illegals really are and the true impact they have on our country. Illegals are guaranteed rights now and can get jobs and driver licenses and they don't have to "live in the shadows" per Joe Biden.

Even after captured illegal immigrants are heard saying, "That's okay, Obama's gonna let me go." Liberals still find a way to point the finger at somebody else.

Obama's policies are the direct cause of tens of thousands of unaccompanied children suddenly flooding our border.

It's obvious that this administration has decided, in its quest for amnesty, to use children as a battering-ram against the GOP. The billions this will cost tax payers along with the loss of lives of both illegals and citizens is a small sacrifice to pay for getting 20 to 30 million poor people here to sure-up the democratic voting base in the future.

Everyone who voted for Obama and the representatives elected into Congress should give themselves a big ole pat on the shoulders.

Your "change" is working out very well for the US.
