“Once that happens … game over.” Her World Net Daily colleague, Mychal Massie, also fears Obama will use Ebola to impose “martial law to prevent a run on banks and to allow government-controlled media blackouts” just in time for the 2016 election – if the president doesn’t cancel it outright.

Mychal Massie, Right-Wing Extremeist / Fringe / Lunatic:

Rolling Eyes
Let’s look at what has happened thus far.

Obama and the CDC told us it was highly unlikely Ebola will make it to our shores because the screening process in West Africa was reliable.

They were wrong.

Obama and the CDC told us that if Ebola made it to America, they had the protocols to stop it in its track.

They were wrong.

Obama and the CDC told us Ebola was very difficult to contract. Two healthcare professionals in a “controlled environment” now have the virus.

They are wrong.

Obama and the CDC told us that stopping commercial airliners from West Africa was not the right thing to do because they couldn’t get the resources over there without them.

This defies common sense.

The nurses’ union said the government and Obama administration has been lying to the public and lying to the health care workers.

“The only help the CDC has given nurses is referring them to the CDC website. We were completely unprepared for this.”

Obama's handling of the Ebola crisis is as bad as the rollout of healthcare.gov.

As for the conspiracy theories of why Obama and the CDC have been wrong at every turn, one can only speculate.

However, there are those on the left that that have alleged that the Republicans in Congress are responsible for the spread of Ebola because they cut the research funding. This was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

You're kidding me, right?? How about almost $600 million in cuts to the CDC since 2010 and almost $450 million in cuts to the NIH over the last 4 years.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/02/politics/van-hollen-ebola/

They were saying at the congressional hearing today that there really are no direct flights from the affected areas in Africa and most people travel through Europe. Are the Republicans suggesting we stop all flights from Europe? How do you think that's going to work out?

No matter what the problem is in this country, the root of the problem always seems to trace back to budget cuts!! Instead of restoring funding to critical areas of our government it's always much easier to point the finger at Obama! That may work in the short term but it's not a good long range plan, especially if the Republicans think they have a shot at getting back into the White House anytime soon.

Kidding???  No-sir

You are once again mistaken, or deliberately trying to mislead.

Democrats earn 4 Pinocchios for claiming the GOP cut public-health spending.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/wp/2014/10/15/the-absurd-claim-that-only-republicans-are-to-blame-for-cuts-to-ebola-research/

Obama’s Republican predecessor oversaw big increases in public-health sector spending, and both Democrats and Republicans in recent years have broadly supported efforts to rein in federal spending. Sequestration resulted from a bipartisan agreement. In some years, Congress has allocated more money for NIH and CDC than the Obama administration requested. Meanwhile, contrary to the suggestion of the DCCC ad, there never was a specific vote on funding to prevent Ebola.

There’s no doubt that spending has been cut, or at least failed to keep pace with inflation, but the fingerprints of both parties are on the knives. This blame game earns Four Pinocchios.
.

Any cuts" were bipartisan - The NIH/CDC gets about $6.5 BILLION from Congressional Appropriations AND they get $4 BILLION from Mandatory spending by Law.

A better issue is to take a good, strong look at what they are spending the money on. NIH has managed to find $1.5 million to study why lesbians have a tendency to be overweight, while gay men do not. There was also nearly $1 million for a study on the sex life of fruit flies, which revealed the shocking news that male fruit flies are sexually attracted to younger female fruit flies. Then there was $688,000 spent to determine why people like Seinfeld reruns.

We have seen how incompetent government agency after government agency is when they are called upon. It isn't because of a lack of funding, it's due to lack of accountability.

But seriously who even thinks the government should be relied upon to find the cure for anything...well, except wealth.

For 2014, the CDC received an 8.2% budget increase which amounted to an additional $6.9 BILLION AND it was $300 million more than Obama requested.

Liberals lie again.

The UN is calling for food service to millions of West Africans "under the gun" of Ebola.

Obama could always bring them here, to supplement the many thousands of newly-arrived Latino "immigrants"  of the "Dreamer" class.

The sequester was nothing more than the consequence of Republican coercion in 2011. That's when they threatened not to pay our bills by not raising the debt ceiling! It will be much more painful next year, especially in the Pentagon budget, if the Republicans don't wake up. Once again the right wingers are re-writing history. No surprise there.  Rolling Eyes

There's no need to re-write history. The answers appear every day except for those who are willingly blind.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has spent more than $39 million on obese lesbians, origami condoms, texting drunks, and dozens of other projects that could have been scrapped in favor of developing an Ebola vaccine.

Frankly, if we had not gone through our 10-year slide in research support, we probably would have had a vaccine in time for this that would’ve gone through clinical trials and would have been ready,” said NIH Director Francis Collins, blaming budget cuts for his agency’s failure to develop a vaccine for the deadly virus.

However, the Washington Free Beacon has uncovered $39,643,352 worth of NIH studies within the past several years that have gone to questionable research.

For instance, the agency has spent $2,873,440 trying to figure out why lesbians are obese, and $466,642 on why fat girls have a tough time getting dates. Another $2,075,611 was spent encouraging old people to join choirs.

Millions have gone to “text message interventions,” including a study where researchers sent texts to drunks at the bar to try to get them to stop drinking. The project received an additional grant this year, for a total of $674,590.

The NIH is also texting older African Americans with HIV ($372,460), HIV and drug users in rural areas ($693,000), HIV smokers ($763,519), pregnant smokers ($380,145), teen moms ($243,839), and meth addicts ($360,113). Text message interventions to try to get obese people to lose weight have cost $2,707,067.

The NIH’s research on obesity has led to spending $2,101,064 on wearable insoles and buttons that can track a person’s weight, and $374,670 to put on fruit and vegetable puppet shows for preschoolers.

A restaurant intervention to develop new children’s menus cost $275,227, and the NIH spent $430,608 for mother-daughter dancing outreach to fight obesity.

Sexual minorities have received a substantial amount from the NIH. The agency has now spent $105,066 following 16 schizophrenic LGBT Canadians around Toronto for a study on their community experiences.

The total for a project on why gay men get syphilis in Peru is now $692,697 after receiving additional $228,425 this year. The NIH is also concerned about postpartum depression...more at...

Like $400 million would be spent on Ebola vaccine research?

I don't think so...

Meanwhile, A Latin-American country has barred a suspected case of Ebola from its ports. (I don't feel that it's justified, but then, government actions or non-actions are hard to figure out). Even the cruise ship has anchored off Belize, waiting for orders.

Suspect

We can expect the airline-, hospital- and cruise-ship industries to feel the effects of  no "common-sense" Government approaches to this virus of terrible death(s).

Same old duck and weave.

In a blink of an eye, the NSA could collect all entry/exit data off all passports. flag all exit date/time from infected countries and put them on no fly list to the USA.

It's that easy...They are playing Russian roulette with this disease and the American public and nobody knows why.

This is why there are “unhinged theories” out there. Any unhinged theory can stand toe to toe with the fact the government won't close off the route that Duncan took to bring Ebola here. This is so nuts it is off the scale. This is the same country that banned large sodas and salt.

What we do know is that we wouldn’t have Ebola here now if the doors weren't left wide open. It's obvious that the CDC's protocols were not in place and lead to a huge loss of confidence.

Ok, so you still love Obama that is fine. You can’t deny most democrat candidates are running as far away from him as possible. You should ask yourself why.

I was no fan of the rabid spending and many policies George W. Bush promoted. But he wasn't half as scary, nor did anywhere near the damage to America as the Obama years have brought us.

Once again, duck and weave.

We are talking about a specific actions and inactions by this administration. You can’t defend so you dismiss it all as Anti-Obama.

Go ahead…

Try to defend Obama failure to close off the route that Duncan took to bring Ebola here. Obama can stop the flights today. He has the power to do that. Congress does not. Stop pointing fingers at the wrong scumbags.

Ebola-stricken nurse Nina Pham's condition was downgraded to fair on Friday, according to doctors at the National Institutes of Health. The 26-year-old nurse, who contracted Ebola while caring for Thomas Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, was previously described as being in a good condition on Thursday. According to the American Hospital Association's scale used to describe a patient's health, a 'fair condition' is listed as worse than a 'good condition'..."

Words of Dr. Frieden in recent days, which, if anything, have only increased Americans’ suspicions that the government doesn’t know what it is doing.

Perhaps the most bizarre statement to be issued by him thus far is the assertion that preventing foreign nationals from the three African nations decimated by the Ebola crisis from entering the United States would actually cause the virus to spread.
