The Gloom of ObamaCare...

Post  News Hawk on Tue Jan 06, 2015 6:51 pm

Rural hospitals are dying because of Obamacare:

Since the beginning of 2010, 43 rural hospitals — with a total of more than 1,500 beds — have closed, according to data from the North Carolina Rural Health Research Program. The pace of closures has quickened: from 3 in 2010 to 13 in 2013, and 12 already this year. Georgia alone has lost five rural hospitals since 2012, and at least six more are teetering on the brink of collapse. Each of the state's closed hospitals served about 10,000 people — a lot for remaining area hospitals to absorb.

As they close, patients will see lengthened transport times for critical care:

Peanut and cotton farmer Buren "Bill" Jones, 52, died of a heart attack a month after Stewart-Webster closed. His family had to wait about 15 minutes for an ambulance to take him to a hospital 22 miles away, where doctors couldn't revive him. The closed hospital was 9 miles from his house, a distance his wife or daughter — who performed CPR on him at home — might have driven. The requirement for electronic records comes at a significant and sometimes, fatal cost:

...And there's one more unpleasant surprise you have coming. Ever see those websites that post all of your personal data and then demand you pay to have it removed? You're going to see more of that- only this time with your personal medical records. Credit card companies and businesses are frequently hacked now as it is. Now that your private records have to go online they'll be easy prey.

Insurers have already cut reimbursement rates for providers. This is leading to many clinicians questioning whether they would continue to see Obamacare patients. It's hard to run a practice at a loss.

Things are even worse for Medicare and Medicaid. Doctors are looking at a big cut in Medicaid reimbursement:

[Obamacare] I have to totally agree with FTR on his post yesterday concerning Obamacare, the “Unaffordable Health Care Act”. My company’s management, in all their wisdom, took away my benefits in 2013, because they were so sure I could get even better coverage through Obamacare.

My insurance through my company had included medical, dental, and vision, and cost me $235 per month, with no deductible and $2500 out of pocket max. Last year, through Obamacare, I paid $859 per month for medical only, with $1900 deductible. This year, the insurance carrier said they weren’t offering the same policy I had last year, but I could get something comparable for $1070 per month. I wound up going with another carrier at $726 per month, but with a whopping $6000 deductible! Affordable health care my arse! And I am considered in the middle class.

Did you also hear that the people at Harvard who were of course in favor of Obamacare are now upset because it is so expensive.

Anyone still confused about why they waited until after re-election for it to kick in?

Socialism is for the people, not the socialist...

The chickens have come home to roost for Harvard. Pony up professors and your contributions will now assist and subsidize those who cannot afford to pay. Laughing

Same with the unions...they were for it but not for them.
Same with Congress…they were for it but not for them.

Seems everyone that was for it...didn't want it themselves.

I don't think we should feel too bad about ObamaCare—even Harvard professors can be Grubered!

That's all right wing baloney! The amount of uninsured people keeps going down and the amount of people insured through Obamacare will be 19 million when this year's enrollees are added in:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/07/obamacare-uninsured_n_6429390.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

Meanwhile, the White House has stated that Obama is going to veto the change in hours workweek from 30 to 40 hours. The Republicans can babble all they want, but Obamacare ain't going anywhere!! Cool

You are just a hopeless partisan. You believed the lies that it would be great for everyone, people without coverage would just get cheap coverage if not FREE and everyone would get to keep their doctor and their rates wouldn't spike and so on and so forth.

On the face of it, those were impossible lies....just like the lies being made now to try defending it.

Premiums have not been reduced, they have spiked

Forbes health policy journalist Avik Roy and the Manhattan Institute analyzed 3,137 counties and found that individual market premiums rose an average of 49 percent.

Of course Obamacare numbers will grow when it is mandated. Of course the numbers will increase when millions are forced off their insurance and have to buy “new” Obamacare policies. Even with that… The White House lied about enrollment numbers.

The administration got caught this fall cooking the books by including 380,000 dental plan subscribers that have never been counted before.

Innocent oopsie?

The “erroneous” inflation just happened to push the Obamacare enrollment figures over the president’s 7 million goal, while fudging the attrition of more than 1 million enrolled in Obamacare medical insurance plans.

Make no mistake, Obamacare was designed by Big Business and Big Government, in order to benefit Big Business and Big Government being huge "winners" (even more power and money), with premium payers and taxpayers picking up the tab. It wasn't by accident that Obamacare handed a $1 trillion windfall to Big Insurance.

You keep flapping your jaws as if you're gonna get rid of Obamacare some time soon. You apparently still don't understand how our government works!! Obama wields the veto pen and you have no one who can take on Hillary. Who is going to beat her, Chris Christie? He was last seen hugging Jerry Jones in the Cowboy's suite. Makes for a good scandal, don't it?

WHL,

After 6 years of the most corrupt administration in our history, the left is desperate to manufacture a scandal with a prominent Republican.

It appears News Buzzard is implying wrong-doing on the New Jersey Government based on a hug.  Apparently… Hugwater investigations should begin immediately.  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

But what would you expect from a group that’s 2016 Presidential election strategy includes rejecting the will of the people on just about every issue over the next two years.

I fail to see how these actions will make Obama and the Democrats more popular.

And nobody has said officially that Christie is running either, NB>

However, this seven percentage point rise in enrollees qualifying for subsidies could be a potential death knell for Obamacare based on a Supreme Court case expected to be ruled on sometime in June.

Plaintiffs in the case argue that the language of the ACA is structured in such a way that only states running their own exchanges can divvy out subsidies to eligible individuals. Thus, if the Supreme Court finds in favor of the plaintiffs, it would mean that the 5.6 million people currently receiving subsidies via Healthcare.gov, the federally run exchange, would no longer receive those payments. I believe very, very few of those enrollees currently receiving a subsidy could afford healthcare without federal assistance.

The obvious solution is that states would need to build their own exchanges, however this is a task that would take one to two years to complete. I'm not certain that Obamacare could survive such a shock.

Very uncertain times...

To say the least, these are very uncertain times for health-benefits providers. Just as Obamacare has relied on subsidies to lower the rate of uninsured individuals, some insurers have geared their enrollment game plan around attracting these government-sponsored members. Redacting these subsidies now could be unpleasant for insurers' bottom-lines..."

Obamacare Loses Millions of OPM...

Post  News Hawk on Mon Jan 12, 2015 8:25 pm

MILLION DOLLAR HEIST:
Audit Of C4HCO Shows Major Mismanagement Of Funds
( Colorado ObamaCare)

Rep. Dan Nordberg, the author of last year’s audit bill, had this to say in a statement: “With only a limited performance audit, the state auditor found Connect for Health Colorado committed numerous federal law violations, and nearly 40 percent of sampled contracts had problems totaling more than $32 million dollars.

“Sadly, I am not surprised. I have had ongoing concerns about how Connect for Health Colorado was managing tax payers’ funds, which is why I pushed so hard last year to expand the auditor’s oversight of this organization. I hope Democrats will see the light and support my efforts this year to give the state auditor’s office the authority it needs to expose this kind of government waste and help us better protect tax payer funds.”
...

A state audit released Monday found that Colorado’s health insurance exchange lacks adequate financial controls and failed to ensure it spent public funds in accordance with federal laws…

Findings of the audit include: Connect for Health didn’t properly track fund sources or payments or take steps to contain personnel costs… The exchange does not have adequate financial controls over purchases from vendors… Auditors identified over $32 million in problems with 35 of the 92 payments and reimbursements they sampled, and contracts they reviewed…

The OSA also found high-dollar payments to some vendors without executed contracts or without board approval, and found that Connect for Health did not consistently take steps to contain its administrative costs.

Medicaid Chief Marilyn Tavenner 'Steps Down' After Obamacare Error

Marilyn Tavenner, head of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, plans to step down at the end of February, she told her staff in an e-mail.

In November, she acknowledged that her agency had made a mistake in its calculation of the number of people enrolled under Obamacare.

The Obama administration said it erroneously calculated the number of people with health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, incorrectly adding 380,000 dental subscribers to raise the total above 7 million.
