Not really 7 million previously uninsured on Obamacare Empty Not really 7 million previously uninsured on Obamacare

Post  WHL Tue Apr 01, 2014 6:41 pm

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America's health care system 'a lot better' in a Rose Garden press conference.
But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality.
Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

Others were already insured, including millions who lost coverage when their existing policies were suddenly cancelled because they didn't meet Obamacare's strict minimum requirements.
Still, he claimed that 'millions of people who have health insurance would not have it' without his insurance law.'

'The goal we’ve set for ourselves – that no American should go without the health care they need ... is achievable,' Obama declared.
The president took no questions from reporters, but celebrated the end of a rocky six-month open-enrollment period by taking pot shots at Republicans who have opposed the law from the beginning as a government-run seizure of one-seventh of the U.S. economy.
'The debate over repealing this law is over,' he insisted. 'The Affordable Care Act is here to stay.'
The president also chided conservatives 'who have based their entire political agenda on repealing it,' and praised congressional Democrats for their partisan passage of the law without a single GOP vote.
'We could not have done it without them, and they should be proud of what they've done,' Obama boasted, in a clear nod to November's contentious elections in which Republicans are expected to make large gains on an anti-Obamacare platform because of the law's general lack of popularity.

'“The bottom line is this,' said Obama: 'The share of Americans with insurance is up, and the growth in the cost of insurance is down. There’s no good reason to go back.'
Republicans will differ with that assessment as Election Day nears. They need to gain a net total of six Senate seats in order to reclaim the majority and control both houses of Congress, a goal that appears reachable since two-thirds of the seats being contested are held by Democratic incumbents.
\No national political analyst has predicted a Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives.
White House press secretary Jay Carney stopped short of saying 'I told you so,' but chided a sparse press corps in the briefing room at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for ever doubting that the Obamacare system would enroll more than 7 million Americans.

Nice try with that bag of lies!  Laughing How does it feel to be on the wrong side of history?? It's only a matter of time before the people in states who were denied Medicaid expansion will be allowed to get affordable health insurance. That will add millions more to the total.

Another joke for the day was Paul Ryan's miserable and regurgitated budget! I wouldn't be surprised if that piece of garbage doesn't even get through the House!

This was a great day for America!!!

I kept thinking Obama and friends wanted 7million people and they just happened to get 7.1. Isn't that a little too close to believe? I thought maybe I was the only one thinking that until I started hearing lots of people say it last night.

At least 9.5 million people who were previously uninsured now have insurance through Obamacare.

Less than 1 million people who had their policies cancelled last year still have no health insurance.

President Obama announced today that 7.1 million Americans have enrolled on health-insurance plans through Obamacare, a number that is “wonderfully precise,” according to Charles Krauthammer. “These guys go six months without any idea what the numbers are, and all of a sudden it’s to a decimal point.”

However, Krauthammer also thinks the 7.1 million enrollees touted by the administration is a “phony number” because it’s unclear how many of that 7.1 million have paid for their insurance and how many were previously uninsured.

“If it turns out that the overwhelming majority of the so-called 7.1 were people who had health insurance, liked their health insurance, were renewing their health insurance, and got kicked off their health insurance, whose lives are disrupted, premiums are raised, deductibles are raised, and lost their doctors are now among the 7.1 . . . it’s a net negative,” Krauthammer said.

Bag of lies?  Really?

“If you like your healthcare you can keep your healthcare period!”--- Barack Obama

“If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.”--- Barack Obama

“Your insurance will go down by $2,500.00”--- Barack Obama

The numbers coming from the Whitehouse are at best an optimistic guess, at worst another lie.

1. There is no distinction being made between "signed up on site" and "enrolled", regardless of payment/coverage status, because "they don't have that information"
2. There is no age breakdown, because "they don't have that information"
3. There is no separation of those who were previously insured, because "they don't have that information"
4. There is no distinction between how many enrolled in what is essentially a Medicaid expansion, because "they don't have that information"
5. There is no subtracting out the number of people who got policy cancellations in 2013, because "they don't have that information"

So for a bunch of folks who take the 5th on every possible statistical breakdown of their claims, because "they don't have that information", I find their claims of magically meeting a political rhetorical numeric goal to be specious at best.

The RAND study - found that just 23% of new enrollees had no insurance before signing up. And of those newly insured, just 53% have paid their first month's premiums.

If those numbers hold, the actual net gain of paid policies among Americans who lacked medical insurance in the pre-Obamacare days would be just 858,298.

Democrats running for reelection should stand up and take full credit for this fiasco.

Not really 7 million previously uninsured on Obamacare Empty PAY THE FINE, THEN GO BANKRUPT...

Post  News Hawk Wed Apr 02, 2014 9:52 am

News Buzzard wrote:At least 9.5 million people who were previously uninsured now have insurance through Obamacare.

NBC:

Obama said, "If you get sick you don’t go bankrupt and that you can get the health care that you need"

 scratch

A new report from WHEC in Rochester is painting a very bleak scenario for New Yorkers, some forced to choose between buying groceries or purchasing Obamacare plans, some concerned about going bankrupt after falling ill.

So why are New Yorkers concerned about going bankrupt due to Obamacare? Especially when the President has continually made such statements as, “I am as proud as I’ve ever been by the work we did to make sure that in this country, if you get sick you don’t go bankrupt and that you can get the health care that you need”?

And why are they choosing between basic necessities and an Obamacare plan when the President has claimed many people will be able to find plans that are cheaper than their cell phone or cable bill?

The Affordable Care Act, simply isn’t affordable.  In fact, many New Yorkers are opting to pay the fine because they can’t afford the high premiums from Obamacare.

Via WHEC:

People are choosing between groceries and health insurance. People are worried about going bankrupt if they get sick. News10NBC is hearing dilemma after dilemma from New Yorkers signing up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

A lot of people have been complaining on News10NBC’s Facebook page about facing a fine if they don’t sign-up for health insurance. Many say they can’t afford the premiums or the deductibles and it would be cheaper to stay uninsured and pay the penalty.

WHEC also mentions the March 31st deadline, saying you could face a fine if the deadline is missed.  They report that the “deadline stands.”

RNC Spokesman Raffi Williams says otherwise.

“Today’s ObamaCare deadline may as well be written in sand, because different states now have different deadlines,” he said.  ”The only thing we know for certain about ObamaCare is the website is a disaster and that the White House hasn’t been transparent about how many people have paid their premiums, which would officially enroll them into the law.”

Indeed, the Washington Post has reported that the deadline will be extended to some time in mid-April, and nobody will be asked to cite a specific reason for being unable to enroll by the March deadline.

That said, New Yorkers seem more concerned with the costs associated with Obamacare.

Marian Schrader, a navigator paid to enroll people in the Obamacare exchanges tells WHEC that when people hear about the costly premiums, they decide not to enroll.

“I’m letting them know there is a fine, but I also understand if you can’t afford to buy insurance,” she said.  ”I mean, are you going to buy insurance or buy food? You’re going to buy food.”

President Barack Obama's home state of Hawaii's Obamacare exchange spent $35,749 per enrollee, a sum greater than the price of a new 2014 BMW 320i sedan (MSRP $32,750). "Just obscene amounts of money have disappeared into these state exchanges for very little actual performance," said American Commitment President Phil Kerpen. "You just have this huge duplication and waste in places like Hawaii and Oregon." A CNBC analysis ranking taxpayer-funded federal expenditures on Obamacare found that Hawaii enrolled just 5,744 people through its Obamacare exchange at a cost to taxpayers of $205,342,270. The second-worst performer was the District of Columbia.

November will be decided on:

1. The disaster that is Obamacare.
2. The cost and increased liabilities created by Obamacare.
3. The lies told to pass Obamacare.

Obama and his followers are using the Common Core Math approach these days.
You know, where 4 x 3=11 can be the right answer as long as you can explain it confidently.

Obama & his administration think that they have "proved their case" and that they've "won".

Anyone who can claim "victory" with numbers this abysmal is clearly delusional. That includes the media and those who somehow think Obamacare is a success and everyone else is lying.

Not really 7 million previously uninsured on Obamacare Empty Re: Not really 7 million previously uninsured on Obamacare

Summarized here:

Some stats surrounding the 7mil figure are circulating. One stat claims that about 20-30% of the “sign ups” have not paid. Hence we have to believe that 7 mill – 20% is a more accurate figure, that’s 5,600,000 persons who we now believe have actually purchased Democare insurance.

The Rand Corporation tells us that only one third of the “sign ups” were previously uninsured. Think of that of the 7 million sign ups, only about 2.3 million were previously uninsured. That’s startling.

Then we have to think about the 4.7 million or so souls who had insurance before Democare and were forced to drop their existing insurance and get Democare. Of that set of people the Cleveland Clinic states that three quarters of those who signed up are being hit with higher premiums and bigger deductibles. That 4.7 mil Americans got royally screwed.  I personally know several of those folks.

Please now recall that our Democrat friends lectured and scolded us that we had to pass Democare so that the 40 million or so Americans who were uninsured would have inexpensive health care. The law was designed so that no American had a choice, we had to buy the insurance or be covered by another government health care plan.  Of that purported 40 million uninsured, it now appears that only 2.3 million previously uninsured now have insurance.  Friends, that’s about six tenths of one percent of the 40 million.

So, maybe, perhaps, six tenths of one percent of the previously uninsured are now insured, but to accomplish that the Democrats have shattered our health care system and forced many millions to pay higher premiums and higher deductibles.

So you believe we should just accept it and let them shove it up our you-know-what?

Sorry, but that isn't America. We have a right as American citizens to demand that rotten legislation such as the so-called ACA repealed.

This is a national nightmare, and it is destructive of personal liberty, it is destructive of wealth creation, of job creation, of entrepreneurship. It is destructive of everything that has made America great. It massively erodes the disposable income of families, premiums having been doubled (or tripled in some cases), destroying their ability to invest in their future, save for a child's education, or even take a vacation. How many families do you know that can afford a sudden increase of $1000 or more per month in their non-discretionary spending?

Not very many, I suspect.

Worse is the fact that none of this improves health care one bit, but it actually will lead to inferior care, fewer choices, and it leaves important health care decisions up to bureaucrats who have no interest in your personal health, but only what the cost is to the government.

The Democrats couldn't have found a better way to control people's lives than to get control of their health care, the most personal of all needs.

Fortunately, we have the numbers on our side and as the even more unpopular parts of DemocratCare see the light of day; our numbers will continue to grow.

In the real world, people like having their health insurance tied to the employment. They like the fact that their employer pays 70, 80, 90 percent and more of their monthly premiums. DemocratCare will decouple this tie and no amount of liberal spin will soften the blow of consumers paying 100% of their premiums.

You're talking to the wrong guy because I think the biggest mistake with Obamacare is that it's not a single payer system. The right winger's attempts to sabotage it at every turn hasn't worked and I'm extremely confident that you'll never be able to get rid of it. The problem with right wingers is that they just don't know when to give up!

Even in that one…opposition led support by 2% among registered voters.

Look at this AP poll: Oppose up by 17%

How about the Real Clear Politics average: Oppose up by 11.6%

I thought you said you trusted RCP the most.

Oops. Well I guess only the polls you like count. Laughing  Laughing

Obamacare has NEVER been approved by a majority, or even a plurality, of Americans. And its approval rating has continuously declined as people are forced to find out more and more about it and who is going to pay for it.
