The Republicans control both chambers in congress and yet they can't keep the Department of Homeland Security funded. Of course they'll blame everyone but themselves, that's Republican protocol, but we all know who is going to take the hit if the DHS shuts down. Chief Obstructionist Of The House, John Boehner, says the House has already done their job, but in yet another case of selective amnesia Boehner forgets that the Senate has already passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill which he promptly tossed into the circular file:  No

There has been information that 300 Marines are presently encircled in Ramadi, Iraq—and you're concerned about Bills before Congress.

I saw that news report and you're just about as accurate as Brian Williams! President Bush is responsible for destabilizing Iraq by his unilateral and reckless invasion, so I don't want to hear that this is all Obama's fault. I'm sure that President Obama will support our troops over there, and if need be, get them out.

No more combat mission in Iraq!! Enough with that BS. I hope that Senators Ayotte, Graham, McCain and the rest of the war mongers figure that out!!

Republican Incompetence Barely 2 Months In Empty Losing US Embassies, One at a Time...

Do you think that, instead of our forces, the tiny military of Jordan will surround ISIS?

News Hawk wrote:There has been information that 300 Marines are presently encircled in Ramadi, Iraq—and you're concerned about Bills before Congress.

I saw that news report and you're just about as accurate as Brian Williams!.

Did Brian Williams taint the news by selecting which views we should see on our TVs about the growth of ISIS? He showed coffins of our troops coming back for burial, but when Obama came upon the scene, we're not told that Obama has lost more troops' lives than Bush.

"...President Bush is responsible for destabilizing Iraq by his unilateral and reckless invasion..."

Seen in retrospect, ISIS isn't of the age of children. ISIS is composed of adult Muslims who should have been exterminated by now.  He had the support of Congress, and ISIS has the poisonous "degraded" warheads that were left in place.  We've lost a third nation to ISIS, and that's the fault of an inept foreign strategy.

News Buzzard wrote:"...so I don't want to hear that this is all Obama's fault. I'm sure that President Obama will support our troops over there, and if need be, get them out..."

Obama is putting more troops on the ground, and it is those insufficient troops that are surrounded by ISIS.

News Buzzard wrote:No more combat mission in Iraq!! Enough with that BS. I hope that Senators Ayotte, Graham, McCain and the rest of the war mongers figure that out!!

They've figured out that Islam intends to take over Israel. Europe, Britain, and the United States. I figure Obama would surrender America if ISIS nukes only Chicago. What do you suppose Iran has in mind with their first nuclear bomb? If a female becomes President upon full deployment of their nukes, do you think that will influence Iran to fold their cards?

Obama will do what he can to sweep ISIS under the carpet—ignoring that ISIS has pledged itself to destroy America and Israel; hence Netanyahu's speech showing so much concern with the traitors in the White House. He's already stated that he "Has no strategy to oppose ISIS ".

The following sums up the situation well:

Just for the record, Obama has been operating on the Use of Force Authorization that was granted to GWB which led us into Iraq and Afghanistan. Many scholars say that no further authorization is necessary.

Nonetheless I’m glad that he is pursuing it. If nothing else we may learn a little of his “strategy” to combat ISIS. We’ve seen that his lack of resolve to date has led us to a point wherein ISIS is now stronger than ever. ISIS is fully the bastard child of Obama and his policies. ISIS did not exist until long after Obama became our President and refused to leave a peace-keeping component of our troops in Iraq.

ISIS has now conquered Yemen, a nation that Obama mere months ago claimed as being one of his victories[/b]. We have closed our embassy, tucked our tail between our legs, and fled. Our President ordered our Marines to surrender their weapons, a grievous, horrible insult. Shameful beyond belief.

This is the third embassy that Obama has lost to radical Islam.

ISIS continues to grow every day and Obama dithers. ISIS struts and postures while gaining even more credibility with its base. Its numbers swell. (Including "citizens" of the United States).

As this is written we don’t know a great deal of what is in Obama’s putative Use of Force Authorization, but some are reporting that it limits our pursuit of ISIS to 3 years and it precludes the use of ground forces. It is reported that his request would put geographical constraints on the pursuit of ISIS.

We do know that his proposal is being severely criticized by influential members of both parties.

Then there is the issue of sending in ground troops. This conflict cannot be quelled by the use of air power alone. Some argue that the conflict is regional and should be prosecuted by regional forces alone.

That view is nonsensical. We are not battling a nation state, we are battling a twisted, perversion of the Muslim faith. The single largest religion in the world. Our enemy is in the minority of the Muslims, but their fervor is maniacal. They have exploded in stature and power during Obama’s presidency. Yet he refuses to even name them. So far, has no taken no real steps to defeat them, he makes only cursory attempts to degrade them. He views their predation as being nothing more than simple criminal behavior.

Make no mistake about it, our enemy are not simple criminals, they are ravenous zealots who envision a world under the thumb of fundamentalist Islam.

We’ll think more, much more about Obama’s request for the Use of Force Authorization as more is known about. But for now I suspect that he is seeking to further limit our ability to combat ISIS. It is becoming clear that Obama does not want freedom to prevail.

I’m certain that you will remember Obama’s insane declarations that the Afghanistan war would end on a date certain. Those utterances led to an emboldening of our enemy. Now, the fecklessness of his actions have been reversed.  Long awaited and much desired by an anxious US military, we have reached an agreement with Afghanistan that troops will not have to withdraw by year’s end, and permits their stay “until the end of 2024 and beyond.” It is a head scratcher as to why Obama did not learn from the Afghanistan debacle and has again demanded a date certain to end hostilities. Perhaps it is to hobble our next President.

The new status of forces deal with Afghanistan ensures that Barack Obama, elected president in 2008 on a wave of anti-war sentiment, will pass off both the Afghanistan war and his new war in Iraq and Syria to his successor. In 2010, his vice-president, Joe Biden, publicly vowed the US would be “totally out” of Afghanistan “come hell or high water, by 2014.”

It is a complete mystery to me as to why Obama and the Democrats have any credibility and support whatsoever."

The war wasn't unilateral—Canada, Britain, Germany, and a coalition of many nations went to war.

Oblama announced that—as he had planned—the U.S. was leaving behind a “sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government.”

So, was Iraq a “sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government”, or did Obama lie to us—again?

One Jordanian has been executed on video in a steel cage, dosed by gasoline, and set afire. Are you comfortable thinking there won't be any more outrages to humanity, or that Jordan can fight ISIS all by itself?

Republican Incompetence Barely 2 Months In Empty But We Sent Them Blankets...

Post  News Hawk Tue Feb 17, 2015 6:11 am

Since I wrote the above, 21 Egyptian Christians were beheaded on video. So the Republicans have had only two months to clean up what Obama has screwed up with ISIS.

His secretary of defense says "the world is exploding all over."
His attorney general says that the threat of terror "keeps me up at night." The world bears them out.

On Tuesday, American hostage Kayla Mueller is confirmed dead. On Wednesday, the U.S. evacuates its embassy in Yemen, cited by President Obama last September as an American success in fighting terrorism.

Yet Obama's reaction to, shall we say, turmoil abroad has been one of alarming lassitude and passivity.

Not to worry, says his national security adviser: This is not World War II. As if one should be reassured because the current chaos has yet to achieve the level of the most devastating conflict in human history. Indeed, insists the president, the real source of our metastasizing anxiety is ... the news media.

Russia pushes deep into eastern Ukraine. The Islamic State burns to death a Jordanian pilot. Iran extends its hegemony over four Arab capitals - Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, and now Sanaa.

And America watches. Obama calls the policy "strategic patience." That's a synonym for "inaction," made to sound profoundly "strategic." Take Russia. The only news out of Obama's one-hour news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel last week was that he still can't make up his mind whether to supply Ukraine with defensive weapons. The Russians have sent in T-80 tanks and Grad rocket launchers. We've sent in humanitarian aid that includes blankets, MREs, and psychological counselors.

How complementary: The counselors do grief therapy for those on the receiving end of the T-80 tank fire. "I think the Ukrainian people can feel confident that we have stood by them," said Obama at the news conference.

Indeed. And don't forget the blankets. America was once the arsenal of democracy, notes Elliott Abrams. We are now its linen closet.

Why no antitank and other defensive weapons? Because we are afraid that arming the victim of aggression will anger the aggressor.

Such on-the-ground appeasement goes well with the linguistic appeasement whereby Obama dares not call radical Islam by name. And whereby both the White House and State Department spend much of a day insisting that the attack on the kosher grocery in Paris had nothing to do with Jews. It was just, as the president said, someone "randomly shoot[ing] a bunch of folks in a deli." (By the end of the day, the administration backed off this idiocy. By tweet.)

This passivity - strategic, syntactical, ideological - is more than just a reaction to the perceived overreach of the Bush years. Or a fear of failure. Or bowing to the domestic left. It is, above all, rooted in Obama's deep belief that we - America, Christians, the West - lack the moral authority to engage, to project, i.e., to lead.

Before we condemn the atrocities of others, intoned Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast, we shouldn't "get on our high horse." We should acknowledge having authored the Crusades, the Inquisition, slavery, etc. "in the name of Christ."

In a rare rhetorical feat, Obama managed to combine the banal and the repulsive. After all, is it really a revelation that all religions have transgressed, that man is fallen? To the adolescent Columbia undergrad, that's a profundity. To a roomful of faith leaders, that's an insult to one's intelligence. And in deeply bad taste. A coalition POW is burned alive, and the reaction of the alliance leader barely 48 hours later is essentially: "Hey, but what about Joan of Arc?"

Obama's Christians-have-sinned dismissal of the West's moral standing is not new, however. It is just a reprise of the theme of his post-inauguration 2009 confessional world tour. From Strasbourg to Cairo and the U.N. General Assembly, he indicted his own country, as I chronicled at the time, "for arrogance, for dismissiveness and derisiveness [toward Europe], for maltreatment of natives, for torture, for Hiroshima, for Guantánamo, for unilateralism, and for insufficient respect for the Muslim world."

The purpose and the effect of such an indictment is to undermine any moral claim to American world leadership. The line between the Washington prayer breakfast and the Ukrainian grief counselors is direct and causal. Once you've discounted your own moral authority, once you've undermined your own country's moral self-confidence, you cannot lead.

If, during the very week Islamic supremacists achieve "peak barbarism" with the immolation of a helpless prisoner, you cannot take them on without apologizing for sins committed a thousand years ago, you have prepared the ground for strategic paralysis.

All that's left is to call it strategic.

Oh?

Was Obama's bombing of Libya "foolish"??

pale

The document is written by an ISIS propagandist who is believed to be an important online recruiter for the terror in Libya, where security has collapsed in the wake of the revolution that unseated Colonel Gaddafi in 2011.

The group has already established Libyan-based cells, who on Sunday released a video showing a mass beheading of 21 Egyptian Christian guest workers.

The video, which prompted Egypt to launch retaliatory bombing raids on ISIS positions in Libya, included footage of a khaki-clad militant pointing a bloodstained finger northwards, declaring:

"We will conquer Rome, by Allah's permission."

Abu Arhim al-Libim describes Libya as having "immense potential" for ISIS. He points out with relish that it is awash with weapons from the Libyan civil war, when large quantities of Col Gaddafi's arsenals were appropriated by rebels.

"The risks Europe faces from ISIS pre-eminence in Libya are substantial."

David Cameron has condemned the "barbaric" executions of the Egyptian Christians, who were kidnapped by ISIS  while working in Sirte.

Hillary does not agree with you.

Clinton, a potential 2016 presidential contender, told The Atlantic in an interview published Sunday that the failure to build up Syrian rebels battling President Bashar Assad "left a big vacuum, which the jihadists have now filled."

Some have criticized Obama for not helping Syrian rebels early on in the rebellion in order to combat al Qaeda-inspired terrorist groups like the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which has since taken over large swaths of Iraq and Syria.

"It is striking, however, that you have more than 170,000 people dead in Syria. You have the vacuum that has been created by the relentless assault by Assad on his own population, an assault that has bred these extremist groups, the most well-known of which, ISIS — or ISIL — is now literally expanding its territory inside Syria and inside Iraq,"

http://thehill.com/policy/international/214796-clinton-criticizes-obama-foreign-policy

and then there is this:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
--Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

Both Hillary and Obama are responsible for Arab Spring which led to ISIS.  How much training and military assets were sent to the rebels?

That's a load of nonsense. We went into Iraq on information which was nothing more than lies, and it was our unfortunate invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq which led to the destabilization of the whole Middle East and North Africa. Bush foolishly thought he was going to shove democracy down everyone's throat over there. Do yourself a favor and read Bush's second inaugural address. It was the most naïve speech I have ever seen. We're not going to force democracy on people who have been fighting each other for thousands of years. You don't have anyone in your bunker of clowns who will come close to beating Hillary!!

Are you calling Hillary a liar? I would.

ISIS didn't exist until Obama and Hillary created them by arming Al Qaeda and funding them. Hillary worked for Obama, whose policies created the vacuum that enabled ISIS. They both have blood on their hands.

ISIS happened on Hillary’s watch. She was FOR Iraq until it became unpopular. Then she tried to spread the lie it was all President Bush.

It's really pathetic how you twist history!! Hillary went with the information she got, which turned out to be all lies, and the foolish invasion of Iraq destabilized the whole Middle East. Are you saying George W. Bush put those words in Hillary’s mouth? Maybe she got that intel from her husband. After all it was Bill’s associates that informed that there was CLEAR evidence that there were WMD in Iraq.

We have been over this a dozen times and the only thing that is CLEAR is that you hold this administration responsible for absolutely nothing. You point fingers for every disaster and the ones that that just can’t plausibly be blamed on others, you claim aren’t failures.

I do remember Joe Biden proclaiming Iraq would be Obama’s greatest achievement. I guess you also forgot Libya was an illegal war taken on solely by Obama while Iraq had Congressional and UN backing.

US Troops that were handling the "Non-WMDs" artillery shells got sick, and could have died from poison gas. Even now, pressure-cookers are considered WMDs. Flights carrying Hussein's uranium stores to Canada had a lesser risk, but still not a negligible risk.

That was one example proved by Islamists who killed and maimed Americans at the Boston Marathon—maybe you forgot—or, as Obama says in revenge, "America had it coming".

After all, as you stated, "We don't have the brightest history in this country". So we fully deserved the Boston Marathon bombing.

No

That's one example of a Terrorist who learned this bombing technique from a training camp similar to the ones Bush was blowing up, using the undeniably successful "Flypaper" technique. Now, one "American" Terrorist is dead, and the other is in a Massachusetts jail, waiting for his chance to vote for Hillary! before all his appeals run out on his presumed death sentence.

Leading politicians from both parties told us for years that Iraq had WMD's and were a major threat. Your rewriting of history aside; Both parties as well as most Americans were beating the drums of war.

One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"
Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

Imagine the consequences if Saddam fails to comply and we fail to act. Saddam will be emboldened, believing the international community has lost its will. He will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. And some day, some way, I am certain, he will use that arsenal again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor February 18, 1999

"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Nancy Pelosi , December 16, 1999

Regime change in Iraq has been official US policy since 1998. The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, signed into law by President Clinton, states:

"It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime."

105th Congress, 2nd Session

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Those poor, poor democrats.  So intellectually and morally bankrupt and stupid to figure out that not only were they WRONG when they were in power, they were STILL WRONG in 2003! After they didn't vote for the war that they voted for!
