Medicaid enrollment under ObamaCare soars, raising cost concerns

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/06/08/medicaid-expansion-under-obamacare-raising-costs-concerns-for-opt-in-states/?intcmp=populardiscussions

Several states that chose to expand Medicaid eligibility under ObamaCare now are facing deadline pressure to pay for it, the result of more signups than anticipated -- and, a looming reduction in how much of the bill the federal government will cover.
At least seven of the 29 states (and the District of Columbia) that expanded coverage have experienced significantly higher-than-expected enrollment. The expansion of Medicaid, the government health care program for low-income people, now allows most low-income adults making up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level to qualify. An estimated 1.4 million more people than expected have signed up in those seven states since enrollment opened in October 2013 -- with Illinois, Kentucky and Washington state more than doubling their projected numbers.

"It's really not a free proposition for us to expand coverage here," Renner told the newspaper. "We're going to have to give up things that are very important, like education."

What a surprise.  Shocked

Who could have foreseen this?

The biggest users of ERs are people on Medicaid.  When Obama expanded Medicaid, common sense tells you that ER use by Medicaid people will INCREASE, not decrease.  In fact ER visits by Medicaid recipients increased 40% during 18 months following expanded Medicaid.  Of course that is the underlying flaw of Medicaid; it’s so much easier to go to the ER than it is to make an appointment and wait to see one of the very few doctors who actually accepting Medicaid patients.

Who is going to pay for this? Ultimately, someone must pay; in all cases, the liberals want someone else to pay for these things and do not want to pony up a dime themselves.  We live in a world of limited resources and one must allocate those resources appropriately. The best solution to "the uninsured" would have been to roll them into Medicare and increase the payroll tax to cover them.

But that would not have been “signature” legislation.

President Decries ‘Endless Partisan’ Attacks on ObamaCare

President Obama on Tuesday made an emotional plea to protect the Affordable Care Act just weeks before the law could face its biggest legal challenge to date. In a half-hour speech to the Catholic Health Association on Tuesday, Obama expressed deep disappointment in the many legal and political attacks against the law, which he described as “ceaseless, endless partisan attempts to roll back progress.”

“It seems so cynical to want to take coverage away from millions of people, to punish millions with higher costs of care and unravel what’s now become part of the fabric of America,”
The Hill

Chances are good Obumbles will ignore the Supreme Court, and continue to fleece taxpayers for ever-increasing Obumblecare costs. (I meant, "Affordable Care").

No

Obumbles never made "partisan attacks"?

Medicaid enrollment under ObamaCare soars, raising cost concerns Empty Obamacare Summed-Up in Four Sentences...

Post  News Hawk Tue Jun 30, 2015 5:59 pm

1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to uninsure the insured.

2. Next, we require the newly uninsured to be re-insured.

3. To re-insure the newly uninsured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured.

4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became uninsured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured, so it will be ‘free-of-charge’ to them.
