Should Lawmakers with Felony Pasts Write New Law? Empty Should Lawmakers with Felony Pasts Write New Law?

All of these legislative pieces floating around in various parts of Congress got me to thinking...some of the people actually WRITING gun legislation could not even walk into a store and purchase a gun. That needs to be made unlawful. Surely everyone can agree that people who cannot legally buy a gun should not be able to write laws regarding them.

The President admitted to using drugsā€”he could not legally purchase a gun yet is helping to write gun legislation.

Bobby Rush of IL is a felon- he also could not legally purchase a gun yet he is once again proposing new gun legislation. These are just two people off the top of my head. I am sure there are additional people, in all of the state houses in this country.

The most common sense piece of legislation would mandate that those who cannot buy guns can not write laws regarding them. Again, this is about as "common sense" as it gets.

Make the background check requirements to run for public office the same as that required to purchase a gun.
