Feb 8-10 snowstorm
The GSN says thanks to this snowstorm being declared a major disaster by FEMA, that Wolfeboro's problem with overtime in its 2013 snow budget has been solved. Apparently FEMA is going to reimburse the town up to $35,000 for that storm, " thereby wiping out a projected budget deficit". When I read that I remembered that last year they had a surplus. So what did they do? They planted flowers. Sure the flowers look nice but wouldn't you have just saved that? This isn't the way you run a business. If you have extra you save it for a rainy day, you don't just spend it anywhere. Why should the federal government bail us out? Wonder why our federal taxes are never enough?

I like the flowers. It was money spent on something that everybody can enjoy.

I think everybody likes flowers. I like them too. But I just think that flowers should not be part of our snow budget. If we have money left over one year, we should save it for the next. Surely there was money for the flowers in some other slush fund. (I know sarcastic.)

I like the flowers. I'm sick of never benefiting from anything our town spends. I think the flowers were money well spent.
