Obama to snub Putin: No one-on-one meeting in Russia amid G-20
As President Obama touched down in Saint Petersburg for the G-20 Summit on Thursday, the White House said there are no plans for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Ben Rhodes, the White House’s deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, said there will be a chance for Mr. Obama to “have interactions” with other world leaders, including Mr. Putin, but there’s no scheduled sit-down between the two men.
Russia and the U.S. remain on opposite sides of the intense international debate surrounding military intervention in Syria. While the U.S. mulls military strikes against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad in retaliation for his use of chemical weapons, Russia continues to oppose such action and block efforts at the United Nations.

Re: Obama to snub Putin: No one-on-one meeting in Russia amid G-20
The timing of this week's G20 summit in St. Petersburg couldn't come at a worse time for President Obama.
When Obama heads to Russia Thursday for two days of meetings, he will be forced to face President Vladimir Putin — the man responsible for blocking United Nations action on Syria and hampering efforts to arrest National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden — on his own turf.
The testy personal relationship between the two leaders, and their diverging agendas, has undermined the “reset” of relations that Obama engineered with former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev early in his first term.
Obama's relationship with Putin, an aggressive former KGB officer who has a natural aversion for the U.S., hit a new low when Russia gave Snowden asylum early last month.
The president responded by canceling planned one-on-one talks with Putin during the summit.

I could find no mention of this in the Washington Post or the NY Times.

Re: Obama to snub Putin: No one-on-one meeting in Russia amid G-20
Vladimir Putin is making a sport of lashing out at President Obama, again taunting him about the Edward Snowden fiasco while accusing his administration of lying about Syria — on the eve of what will be a contentious showdown in St. Petersburg.
The Russian president ridiculed the Obama administration’s claim that Syrian rebels are not dominated by al Qaeda-linked terrorists.
“They lie beautifully, of course,” Putin said in a wide-ranging interview just before he and Obama meet face to face at the G-20 summit.
He called Secretary of State John Kerry’s testimony about the rebels before a Senate committee on Tuesday “unpleasant and surprising for me.”
“We proceed from the assumption that they are decent people,” Putin said. “But he is lying and knows he is lying. It’s sad.”
The bad blood between Putin and Obama was evident during their barely civil appearance together at a June summit in Northern Ireland.
It got worse after the Kremlin allowed Snowden, the NSA leaker and No. 1 US fugitive, to stay in Russia last month. Obama retaliated by canceling a meeting with Putin in Moscow before the G-20 summit.

I was hoping the Shirtless Wonder would talk some sense into 0bama.
Yes it is not all 0bama’s fault… Our entire government looks like a bunch of monkeys fornicating with a football…and the football is winning. This is well beyond an embarrassment.

The left thinks they can do business as usual. They are not dealing with the uneducated masses that elected their president. They have to deal with real politicians in the real world.

You guys are trying your best to move the goal posts, but Obama still enjoys a 45% popularity rating while Congress is in the tank at 15%. That number rests entirely on the intransigence of the Republicans!
Must be those uneducated masses, even here in New Hampshire!!
