A dishonest presidency - Page 6 Empty ObamaCare’s four biggest lies

Post  fshnski on Sun Jan 05, 2014 9:59 am

President Obama’s famous vow — “If you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan. Period.” — isn’t the only broken promise of ObamaCare.

Now that the Affordable Care Act has actually been in effect for a week, Americans are discovering more pitfalls associated with the massive overhaul.

Lie #1:

“Affordable” Care. Even the president’s ideological allies — like Michael Moore — acknowledge that the Affordable Care Act is far from inexpensive for most Americans and that it “risks being a cruel joke.”
For average Americans, the results are prohibitively expensive. “The cheapest plan available to a 60-year-old couple making $65,000 a year in Hartford, Conn., will cost $11,800 in annual premiums,” according to Moore’s math, as published in a New York Times editorial. “If both become seriously ill, they might have to pay almost $25,000 in a single year.”

The National Federation of Independent Businesses, an organization that represents nearly 11,000 entrepreneurs in New York state alone, said it has yet to find a single member whose health-care costs are going down under ObamaCare. Instead, an “overwhelming majority” of businesses have reported increases in their insurance premiums, said Mike Durant, the NFIB’s New York director.

Lie #2:

It will prevent people from going into debt.
Patients with cancer and conditions such as multiple sclerosis or Crohn’s disease can now get insurance and financial but if annual out-of-pocket costs run much higher than expected, they might have to go into debt.
“There are certainly challenges for cancer patients,” said Brian Rosen, a senior vice president of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. These gaps “need to be addressed in order to fulfill the intention of the Affordable Care Act.”

Caroline Pearson, who tracks the health-care overhaul for the consulting firm Avalere Health, put it in even starker terms.

“Chronically ill people are likely to be underinsured and face extremely high out-of-pocket costs,” she said. “While the subsidies help, there still may be access problems for some populations.”

Lie #3:

ObamaCare will lower costs overall.

The idea that people with medical insurance go to the emergency room less, and thus, help to reduce the overall cost of health care, isn’t necessarily true, as a study of Oregon Medicaid recipients has shown.

Researchers compared Medicaid recipients with those with no health insurance and found the following: Pthat people with access to Medicaid went to the ER 40 percent more than those without insurance.

Lie #4:

More Americans will be insured.

Approximately 2.8 million Americans have signed up for new health-care plans since the Affordable Care Act went into effect on Jan. 1. That’s less than the 3.3 million the federal government predicted would sign up, and is also dwarfed by the 4.7 million whose insurance policies have been cancelled as a result of the overhaul.

I just heard on the news that obama has come back from Hawaii  after a 17 day vacation and his wife stayed behind so she can spend time with friends. 17 days and she couldn't find any time? How much more is this going to cost us? This is an abuse of power.

Obama has spent more on this vacation than Britain's Royal Family has on ALL their vacations over the past year!

OTH, more people are struck by lightning on golf courses!

Here ya' go fsh. WHO is giving her the birthday present? YOU and I!! -even though we don't want to.

President Barack Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha left their vacation in Hawaii on Saturday, but left First Lady Michelle Obama behind on the islands, according to news agency reports. The president reportedly let his wife stay on in Hawaii with friends as a "birthday present." Michelle Obama will turn 50 years old on Jan. 17.
It is a birthday present whose costs, in separate travel and security expenses, are likely to be borne, in part, by taxpayers. On a previous occasion, when Mrs. Obama left for a Hawaii vacation in advance of her husband, the additional cost to the Treasury was estimated to be at least $63,000, and potentially upwards of $100,000.
Mrs. Obama's vacations have often been a source of controversy, beginning with a lavish holiday with friends in Spain's Costa del Sol in 2010, and continuing with high-end sojourns in the Bahamas, Martha's Vineyard and the Maine coast--the latter after urging Americans to vacation in the oil spill-stricken Gulf of Mexico.

Mrs Obama deserves a longer vacation, and the Obamas have a long way to go to catch up to the amount of time Bush spent on vacation. None of you ever posted how much that cost!!!

No matter how much time a president actually spends away from the official residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., the commander in chief is never really off the clock. A US president is never really on vacation.

I don't know how any President or his family ever gets anytime to relax.

A dishonest presidency - Page 6 Empty Mitt Romney calls president "deceptive" on health care law

Post  fshnski on Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:28 pm

Mitt Romney on Sunday accused President Obama of "deception and dishonesty" in selling Americans on his signature health care law, particularly in his promise that everyone would be able to remain on their current plans if they chose.

"He told people, you can keep the insurance you have if you like it, and that was not honest," Romney said on "Fox News Sunday." "That was deceptive, and the American people recognize that, and they're rejecting Obamacare."

Geez fishy wishy, President Obama has said that he made a mistake. I don't think it was "deception and dishonesty" though.

This is old news to all of us and has been posted by you many many times. You'll do it again because you don't understand what you are posting most of the time.

A dishonest presidency - Page 6 Empty Backpedal on ObamaCare’s ‘ 7 million’

Post  fshnski on Tue Jan 07, 2014 8:14 am

WASHINGTON — The White House on Monday downplayed its stated goal of getting 7 million people enrolled in ObamaCare by the end of March — arguing that what really matters is the mix of people who sign up.

The administration, however, has yet to release data on the composition of the new enrollees, such as the number of young people who have signed up for coverage.

Noting that the 7 million figure originated from a nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimate, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday, “Some estimates were lower and some were higher . . . There’s not some magic number.”

So far about 2 million people have signed up. But This past fall, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius appeared to embrace the estimate when she told NBC, “I think success looks like at least 7 million people having signed up by the end of March 2014.”

Prove it.

Who would report it?

Bob Woodward?

(CNN) - Veteran journalist Bob Woodward said Wednesday he was threatened by a senior Obama administration official following his reporting on the White House’s handling of the forced federal spending cuts set to take effect on Friday.

“They’re not happy at all,” he said on CNN’s “The Situation Room,” adding that an e-mail from a senior administration official – who he would not name – communicated a message which caused him great concern.

“It was said very clearly, you will regret doing this,” he said.

A dishonest presidency - Page 6 Empty $364 Million from Taxpayers to Put Liberal Journalists’ Boots on the Ground in Syria

Post  fshnski on Tue Jan 07, 2014 11:59 am

The 1st Amendment says Congress shall make no law “respecting the establishment" "of the press.” Someone should tell Congress. In 10 years, the U.S. government spent $364 million funding the liberal journalism nonprofit Internews, also supported by left-wing billionaire George Soros.

Internews was founded by a self-described Marxist anti-war protester. It has received $1.7 million from Soros, which pales in comparison to the fat government checks it has received. In 2011 alone, it sucked up $52,350,784 in government grants, according to its 990 tax forms. This made up 92.4 percent of the $56,644,153 in total reported revenue for that year.

And 2011 wasn’t unusual. According to the Soros-funded Center for Public Integrity, “all but $1.6 million of the $26.7 million in revenue it [Internews] reported in 2004 came from the federal government.”

Yet Internews runs a massive international journalism organization with a surprisingly small media footprint. Already a presence in more than 90 countries, including hotspot regions like Egypt, Libya and the “Palestinian Territories,” Internews has branched out into the latest conflict area to dominate the world stage: Syria.

Hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars have gone to this little-known, liberal journalism nonprofit since 2002, but the government agencies responsible for funding Internews didn’t seem to know much about it at all. And they certainly don’t like answering questions about it.

Maybe they realize what they are paying for. Far from being politically neutral, Internews pushes a liberal agenda and has helped to found at least three other liberal organizations.

To put its $364,325,778 in federal funding in perspective, Internews has gotten an average of $83,122.46 from taxpayers per day during the past 12 years. That’s $83,000 every single day for 12 years. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-TX, said that so much money going to influence journalism is a real problem.

“People need unbiased information so that they can form their own opinions and make educated decisions. It is only through fair reporting that the American people, and people worldwide, can benefit,” Rep. Smith told the Business and Media Institute. Smith, who heads the Media Fairness Caucus on the Hill, said: “One of the greatest challenges a democratic America faces today is a biased media. It is inexcusable and irresponsible for the federal government to give American taxpayers’ dollars to a one-sided media organization.”

A dishonest presidency - Page 6 Empty obama asks for a solid ...

Post  fshnski on Tue Jan 07, 2014 12:09 pm

Anybody watching obama live? He doesn't believe what he's saying any more. Watch his face.

forced applause

He just said;

"I'm asking you to advocate for me and the millions like me who need our extended unemployment benefits to make ends meet."

long pause for effect

no applause

So, I, I  ah just want everybody to understand …

The left will say I took it out of context … but you watch obama's presentation.

I can'y name a time where I met an American who would rather have an unemployment check than the pride of having a job.

forced applause

The long termed unplowed are not lazy their' not lacking in motivation … blame Bush

job/skills mismatch

Discrimination ???

There may be an older worker …  may have to be retrained … it's hard sometimes employers will discriminate against those out of work for a while

They decide … well … We're not sure we wan't to hire you … we'd rather hire somebody who is still working right now …

So it's hard out there …

Does anybody really believe that cutting this benefit will make some one hire me ???

What a phony.

Obama essentially said, it was unpatriotic to criticize people being on unemployment for over 99 weeks and that he has never met anyone to take advantage of the system. (another lie by the Big-O*)

But it's ok for Obama to criticize small business owners that could have hired people if they would just get off their asses and help the job market.  Never mind the higher taxes and regulations.
