“Out here in California, everybody thinks the government is going to take care of them in an emergency,” he said. “Back there, they’re a little more savvy to the idea they might not be able to depend on anyone like that.”

California has the 8th largest economy in the world. I don't think they're going to miss the company that moved to Texas.

Yeah, Seattle is just as bad as Ca. Good place for you too, NB.
Ca. might not miss that one company but they might start to miss ALL of them as they gradually move away from Ca.

Texas is ranked 48th in spending on education, so I don't think we're going to see a mad rush from California to Texas.

As usual you open your mouth before you check your facts. That must be a right wing thing !

Check the census counts for California and the estimated population for 2014.

Re: NB Would Like California...
What are you talking about? Where does it say in that link that people aren't moving out of Ca.?

You can read tons of articles about people moving out. Who is opening their mouth before they know what they are talking about?????

The right hand column about half way down in my Wikipedia post has all of the census reports form 1850 until the present. The estimated population of California in 2014 is 38,340,000. The article you posted is dated Dec 2012 and talks about 2011. Give me a break !

Remember That Rahm Emmanuel Tried (and failed) to take the Census into White House Control?

I worked for the Census Bureau. Their numbers are only as good as the census takers' numbers—and they weren't very truthful—I'm afraid.
To project a 2010 population figure into the future is a "Guess". (Like counting Polar Bears for political reasons is also a "Guess").

Re: NB Would Like California...
You mean educated guess. There are other ways to consider population changes, and the facts are that California is the most populous state and has increased in population every 10 years since 1850. You just wish you could say that people are fleeing California in droves to entertain your misguided views.

Well, NB, I guess you know more than just about everybody else in this country, because there are a lot of people saying that Ca is losing it's people and businesses.

Re: NB Would Like California...
The state of California is becoming legendary for creating the most anti-business climate in the country because of its high taxes, excessive regulations, forced unionism, and bloated public sector.
For the second year in a row, a large group of America’s CEOs recently rated California as the worst state in the country to do business in an annual survey conducted by Chief Executive Magazine. California currently ranks No. 49 among U.S. states for “business tax climate” according to the Tax Foundation’s 2011 State Business Tax Climate Index, and it ranks No. 48 for “economic freedom” according to a recent study by the Mercatus Center.
It shouldn’t be any surprise then that companies are leaving the “Golden State” in record numbers this year (see chart) for “golder pastures” and more business-friendly climates in other states. In just the last two years, the number of companies leaving California has accelerated more than five-fold, from one per week in 2009 to 5.4 per week this year, according to California relocation expert Joe Vranich.

Re: NB Would Like California...
What you're missing is that California brags about its Diversity; unfortunately, the state's Illegals are being "projected" along with legal residents within this Census' guess.WHL wrote:They are moving to Texas. But they can move to other states too. People ARE moving out of Ca.
But it's the businesses that they are losing that counts. Not every employee follows the businesses out of California, as Toyota's U.S. main business office has shown.
The deteriorating shine includes Hollywood.

Re: NB Would Like California...
The facts speak for themselves, and as I already said California is the 8th largest economy in the world. I know your narrative would have California going in the same direction as Detroit, but it doesn't appear to be going that way despite the high taxes. You never heard the phrase, location, location, location ?

Re: NB Would Like California...
The argument is not whether it is the 8th largest economy, the argument is that Ca. is losing people and businesses. Not hard to understand.

California is improving its Diversity, but losing valuable employees.

Re: NB Would Like California...
California's employment picture is much better than 4 years ago, when the rate was 12.4% (who was Governor then?). The rate is down to 7.8%.

Speaking of Detroit:
California Could Out-Do Detroit...
Corcoran, California – One of the most famous killers in the American prison system will be walking free. On Tuesday, Charles Manson was granted parole by the California Board of Parole and authorized by California Governor Jerry Brown.
