Before I comment, let's first establish what you think is wrong in this picture?

Marine patrol boat on port side of boat towing waterskier.

Appears to be a ski boat towing a skier or wake boarder, passing a patrol boat port to port and has either just overtaken or is about to be overtaken by a PWC on the ski boats starboard side in the foreground. All looks legal and like they are having fun to me.

It is also possible that Red_Hill is correct and the PWC is taking video, hard to tell in this photo.

So again I ask, what do YOU think is wrong here News Hawk?

Yes, you need a better camera and angle.

The angle is fine, but the towing boat (pictured) pushed a wake that soaked my camera. I no longer had any telephoto capability. The photo is an enlargement from its normal (wide-angle) setting. There is no NHMP boat in the photo.

Have you ever "closed in" as this Jet-Ski has, to take video or stills?

Does "fun" exclude responsibility to observe New Hampshire's RSAs...or is it "fun" to not observe New Hampshire's RSAs?

I did take some measurements earlier today because I had a feeling that you were going to claim something along those lines. Assuming that the skiboat is 20 feet and the skier is about 6 feet tall....that would make the PWC about 10 feet tall if you are claiming that it is close to the skier or tow boat.

There does appear to be the top of a Marine Patrol Boat cabin in the background on the other side of the tow boat. Since you are limiting our judgement to the assessment of a single still photograph then you tell us. If that object is not the top of the cabin of a Marine Patrol RIB what is it?

The first one was clearer. So it looks like what we thought might be the top of the cabin of the MP RIB is the Wake Board/ski tower on the boat?

Sometimes when you look from a distance, boats are not as close to each other as they look. Having said that a lot have no clue about the 150' rule.

You can do what you want. Except for passing through the westernmost part—almost two miles away—there's been no NHMP boat sighted here for days—hence, this thread.

Maybe they're setting Winter Harbor up for the unmarked MP boat(s).

I think F&G has unmarked boats but outside of when the MP did the speed study I don't recall ever hearing of them using unmarked boats.

Two or three years ago they had jet skiis that were unmarked.

Didn't someone at the FATP mention that they might now have unmarked boats, NH?

I was in WH yesterday. I saw a MP RIB in WH around 1330. He was in WH when I got there (I idled all the way up from Libby to the Basin), and was just headed out of WH as I made my way back out. At a minimum, the MP RIB was in WH for 30 minutes yesterday (like I said he was there when I got there)

That's what I read at FATP earlier this season.

There are two similar—but privately-owned boats frequenting Winter Harbor that can be mistaken for NHMP.

One real NHMP, with a large white radome sits in the channel near Libby on occasion. They're not looking in the largest locale because their "signature" boat profile can be identified for miles away. They seldom appear on weekends, but when they do, it's late in the afternoon, and after all the "fun" is over.
