Of course, President Obama defeated Romney with relative ease, leaving Americans with economic policies that helped push the unemployment rate to 5.9% – in the middle of 2014, more than two full years ahead of Romney’s goal.
What were his brilliant policies?

Anyone with an IQ over 60 knows the unemployment rate is well above 5.9%. Care to blast Romney over his other predictions? While I am no fan, Romney has been extremely accurate and most Americans admit the country would be in better hands under his leadership.

That's funny, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says the unemployment rate is 5.9%! Do they have an IQ over 60?
Some people just don't want to recognize that the unemployment rate is down to 5.9% on Obama's watch!!
As for Red Hill's question, there is no doubt that the Stimulus, Bailout of the Auto Industry, Increased Domestic Oil Production, Banking Regulations and Obamacare were highly successful achievements that improved the economy, and as highly popular Senator Susan Collins says, "we're so past the repeal of Obamacare!!"
This is a good day!! (especially when your team wins with 3 seconds to go!)

I have to say if the ads about Susan Collins being there for 5763 roll call votes in a row, she is doing her job!News Buzzard wrote:Outerlimits wrote:Anyone with an IQ over 60 knows the unemployment rate is well above 5.9%. Of course half the time we would be better of if she didn't vote, because she votes with the Dems. so much.

5.9% is a huge lie, is what it is, for election time.
To drop from 10% to 6% would mean that 8 million new jobs would have had to be created. To exceed population growth, recover lost jobs and add jobs to the economy to make the new, improved and wildly absurd unemployment number make any sense, we'd need to have added ~600k jobs per month for the last 2 years.
Given that YOU do cartwheels of ecstasy every time the new jobs exceed 100k in a month, you would have had a coronary if we had a single month of 600k.
Besides inflation, no number is more grossly misrepresented and misunderstood than the DC-approved unemployment rate. The reason they lie to you is because if most people knew that over a quarter of work-eligible people were simply not working, they'd freaking panic.
To you other points...
Obama’s so-called Stimulus bill, nothing but a political stunt. It created ZERO jobs that exist today.
Obama’s Cash for Clunkers, another failure.
Increased Domestic Oil Production: You are really trying to give credit to Obama for that? Really?
The bailout of auto industry: That was actually George W. Bush and still...it was horribly wrong.
Obama’s banking regulations created jobs: What regulations would those be?
Obamacare: Created jobs and improved the economy… now that is funny.

Ha Ha! I think Romney said that around the same time he was predicting he was going to win the election!!!

The Financial Reform lends stability to the economy by further preventing another massive recession. Read Paul Krugman!
Cash for Clunkers; another successful program! Thanks for reminding me!
I guess you're smarter than the US Bureau Of Labors Statistics!! Ha Ha!!

Good post Outer. You forgot to say it wasn't Romney who said he will drive the coal industry out of business with regulations and that electricity prices will skyrocket which they are now doing. I heard Maine has electric rates going up 40something %. And some other place too. Probably NH. I know, now NB will tell us how Wolfeboro's rates won't go up because we negotiated a good deal. Well just wait 'til that contract runs out.

5.9% is only the amount of people still allowed to collect unemployment. Not those millions that have exhausted the timeline to get benefits, the under employed or those misclassified self-employed workers
I guess you didn't know…Bubba changed the way unemployment was calculated by the government to feed to the media. The arguement is not with the US Bureau Of Labors Statistics, they calculate UE the way they are told.
Had the two been calculated the same, Obama would be at 12%, while Reagan at 7%, and if calculate like when FDR was in office, it would be near 20%.
I am sure you are just fine with the economy. It fits in perfectly with you other beliefs.
American’s are not taxed enough.
Gasoline is too cheap.
The IRS did not target Conservative Groups.
Home heating oil is too cheap.
Goods and services are too cheap.
Nobody said “you can keep your doctor.”
If we raise the cost of labor, consumer prices will not rise.
Our foreign policy is working well.
Millions added to Medicaid is a good thing.
You can lift the poor out of poverty by bringing down the rich.
All the Whitehouse scandals are fake.
The world drew a red line in Syria...Not Obama.
Government employees are not paid enough.
We should not close our boarders.

Unitil definitely requested a steep rate increase because of the rising costs of natural gas:

Wolfeboro has a little over 2 years left on it's current contract, so there is no telling what we might be facing.
President Obama is not the only one concerned about coal destroying the environment:

By the way, outerlimits, it's borders, not boarders. A boarder is one who lives in your house for a certain rental fee, and the rest of that post was pure, unprocessed hogwash!!

And a big thank-u for the spell/grammar check.
All of Obama's “successes” heralded by his minions and endorsed by his propaganda machine are the result of the ever handy thesaurus for relabeling problems to make them disappear, the book of creative accounting and finance and changing standard reference points against which current measures are compared.
None of Obamas words or math can stand up to the critical “red faced” test.
The one thing that would make this economy grow is affordable energy. We have an administration that has declared WAR of fossil fuels. There is no wonder of why we are in a stagnant economy poised to slip back into recession. Legislation can kill business, over regulation and over taxing; causing a massive loss of jobs (110th congress comes to mind).
The Democrats (and to a lesser degree the Republicans in office) believe they can tax and spend their way out of this malaise. The ONLY resolution the Democrats EVER have these days is, "give us MORE money, and we can fix it".

The only way forward is to invest in renewable technology:
