Africa Trip- 100 million

Does Obama really need to spend this money right now? Can't he stay home for a change?

From the article
The trip could cost up to $100 million, the Washington Post reported yesterday. "Obama’s trip could cost the federal government $60 million to $100 million based on the costs of similar African trips in recent years, according to one person familiar with the journey who was not authorized to speak for attribution. The Secret Service planning document, which was provided to The Post by a person who is concerned about the amount of resources necessary for the trip, does not specify costs."
And to think that we have roads and bridges in dire need of attention. It makes me sick!

Yeah, me too....it's a shame Boehner's crew won't pass the "jobs bill" that would allow this.

It's a shame we don't spend the money on those that deserve it the most.

I can tell you the whole problem with the left, fsh. They think money grows on trees. They never say no to spending.

How can we when we spend so much money on non-Americans and supporting people that don't think they have to work?

Re: Africa Trip- 100 million
Back in the days of the Soviet Union, our intelligence agencies employed Team A and Team B to provide alternate calculations of Soviet military might. One team was drawn from the Hawks, the other from the Doves. Their estimates differed, often quite dramatically. But at least our policy makers understood the range of possible outcomes.
It is high time for the CBO to form a Team B so we can get a better grasp of economic reality.

I think our infrastructure should have been fixed already. Instead of spending the taxes we paid on diesel and gas etc. they should have spent it where it was SUPPOSED to go. But since they didn't, yes, I think the infrastructure needs to be fixed. We don't need to borrow money to do it, they can do it if Obama stops going on all these trips and stays in the WH where he belongs.

It's now or never: plans for his third term didn't turn out so well.

CBO Is Increasingly Skeptical About ObamaCare
The latest report from the Congressional Budget Office highlights a number of reasons why the CBO is concerned about the implementation of Obamacare. It boils down to this: Obamacare is going to be more expensive than the Obama administration thought, disrupt the marketplace more than they thought, and be tougher to implement than they thought. First, more expensive: The CBO significantly hiked...

This article says Obamacare is going to be more expensive, disruptive and difficult to implement "than the Obama administration thought." It would be more accurate to say than the Obama administration "argued." We don't know what they really thought, but the expense, disruption and difficulties have been shouted from the rooftops by opponents of Obamacare, so if they administration didn't see it coming they were willfully blind or stupid. If they did see it coming, then they were mendacious. Better not to try to delve into their thought processes, but rather, to focus on what they openly promised the American people - and are now predictably failing to deliver on.

Re: Africa Trip- 100 million
Hasn't anyone considered the really Big Picture presented by this visit?
President Erkel is providing jobs for Americans!
"The Obama vacation will require many military cargo planes airlifting 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines, and three trucks to carry bulletproof glass panels to cover the windows where the first family is set to stay. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship with a fully staffed medical trauma center will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency.
"Fighter jets will fly in shifts to provide around-the-clock protection over the president’s airspace. The trip will reportedly involve hundreds of Secret Service agents."

But we couldn't do anything for the 4 Americans in Benghazi?

Perhaps because President Urkel was called a "war criminal" by an Irish Parlimentarian?

And did you also notice in that article that they don't know how much the trip will cost. Wouldn't it be nice if all of us could just take off on a trip and have no idea of how much it will cost? A hundred million, two hundred million, it's only money. But when it's not your own------ What do you bet after the trip is over, someone will come up with a price tag BELOW the 100 million originally predicted.

Re: Africa Trip- 100 million
As President Obama prepares for a week-long stay in Africa, the goals of his trip — boosting economic partnerships and engagement with the U.S. and promoting democratic development in African nations — are in danger of being overshadowed.
In the days before his Wednesday departure, attention in Washington has focused instead on the costs of the three-nation trip, estimated to be as high as $100 million.
The excursion reportedly will involve military cargo planes airlifting 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines, and three trucks to carry bulletproof glass panels to cover the windows where the president and his family will stay

Re: Africa Trip- 100 million
I made a quick trip down New England the last few days. In my 5 hour drive I passed at least four rest areas that are no longer open. There was one open that is being maintained by volunteers. Yet we're wasting money on this African trip and still spending money to help foreigners come to America to become even more of a burden on the taxpayer. This does not make sense!
