Re: Benghazi Hearings—Democrats Walk Out...
I have spent a half hour trying to verify this and can't find anything.
update
I found it. They didn't walk out, they just didn't show.
update 9:13
They did walk out. This was right before the families of the victims were to speak.

Re: Benghazi Hearings—Democrats Walk Out...
A Fish rots from the Head down......
Why would anyone be surprised that the Democrats got up and walked out on the families of these Murdered Americans? When this happened over a year ago and nobody can get any answers about it and NOTHING has been done to those that set up their loved ones and to those that murdered them.
This is now Standard Operating Procedure.
Sandra Fluke testifies for free birth control, and Dems are hanging on every word. But they can't be bothered to listen to the parents whose children died while serving their country. Those poor families sitting alone in that room with only a few people who give a darn about their Murdered family member is heart breaking.
One Mother said - "I don't trust my Government", "I don't understand how my country can do this".
The Democrats response: What difference does it make?
The families have been demanding to be heard in hopes of getting the Democrats on the committee to take them seriously. It clearly didn't work. It let them all know that they just don't care and want this entire Debacle to go away.
The Democrats in this country don't want to hear the truth; they don't want to give these families any peace because doing so…could damage Hillary’s political future.

As Hillary would say, get over it, it's done, there is nothing we can do now. Such compassion have the Dems.

What a despicable group. If I was their boss I would fire them! That is, unless this was the type of heartless, obnoxious actions that were accepted by the company.

Also appearing before the committee were the parents of two of the Americans who died in the attacks.
They said the government failed them and has not been truthful about the events surrounding the assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission, falsely blaming the attack on reaction to a YouTube video critical of Islam.
“I was told a few things, and they were all lies,” said Pat Smith, mother of State Department officer Sean Smith.
She said President Obama and his top aides came up to her at the casket ceremony when her son’s body was returned to the U.S.
“Every one of them came up to me, gave me a big hug, and I asked them what happened. Please tell me. And every one of them said it was the video. And we all know that it wasn’t the video. Even at that time they knew it wasn’t the video. So they all lied to me,” she said.

Re: Benghazi Hearings—Democrats Walk Out...
Fox News and other conservative media outlets have amplified Rep. Darrell Issa's (R-CA) misleading claim that Democrats "excuse[d] themselves" from testimony given by the families of the victims of the Benghazi attack. In fact, over the course of the hearing, members of both parties were in and out of the proceedings.
Rep. Issa posted a tweet claiming that Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee left the hearing room as Patricia Smith and Charles Woods testified about their sons, Sean Smith and Charles Woods, who were killed in Benghazi.
The image and tweet are misleading. Members often come and go during congressional hearings to attend to other business (taking votes, other hearings etc). The hearing yesterday was over five and a half hours long and was split in two by a recess at 2:25 p.m. EDT. In the first half of the hearing, military and administration officials testified, followed by the family members in the second half.
One member, Rep. John Tierney (D-MA), released the following information:
Congressman Tierney was unable to stay for the entire five to six hour hearing due to scheduling conflicts; but, to be clear, there was no Democratic "walk out." Mr. Tierney was in attendance for the first panel, but similar to a number of Republican Members of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the Congressman had a full schedule, including another Committee hearing, a meeting with small business owners who traveled from Massachusetts to DC, a discussion on Syria, as well as votes and other matters, and was unable to make it back for the second panel. He has reviewed all the testimony and reports and participated in the previous hearings on Benghazi.
In the following pictures, taken during the first segment of the testimony from C-SPAN's coverage, vacant seats on the Republican side of the dais (the left side, if you're facing the witnesses) can clearly be seen:
12:18pm EDT
1:08pm EDT
2:25pm EDT
The following photo shows that Republican members were also absent from the chamber as the victims' family members testified.
As Slate's Dave Weigel points out, only six of the 24 Republicans on the panel were present while the family members were being questioned. In addition, two Democrats were present (including Rep. Elijah Cummings, the committee's ranking member).
This didn't stop conservative media from running with Issa's deceptive framing (as they have for much of the Benghazi story).

"unable to stay due to conflicts"??????? Don't they have a job to do? Aren't we paying them to BE THERE????? It seems like if they feel like working they do, if not, oh well. Wish the common folks could have that kind of a job.

Once again, a Right-Wing batsh*t-crazy trollbait lie debunked..... as usual
I just want to go on record as saying that I find it totally disgusting and unamerican that 18 of 24 Republicans hated the families of those Benghazi victims soooooo much that they did not stay to hear the testimony. I mean, what a bunch of unamerican a**holians, those 18 Republicans!! What a disgrace for our Republic! Those douchebags hate America so much, they can't even stay till the end of an almost six hour hearing. I mean, what the heck is wrong with those Republicans. Jesus, those family members should hang those a**wipe Republicans out to dry.

Re: Benghazi Hearings—Democrats Walk Out...
Just giving you some of your own medicine that's all. You only post one side of the story and usually it is a down right lie.
The idea that the Democrat behavior is an enormous outrage is ridiculous. Issa knows that. He knew when he tweeted his picture that most of his own party was excusing themselves too. He knew there was no outrage. He wanted to cause one, to give his right-wing conspiracy-chasing fan club something to focus on instead of what actually transpired in his big hearing. It worked. Hooray, conservatives, you've been well duped.

Giving us some of our own medicine? I don't think so. None of us (conservatives) post like that. Some of the liberals are the ones who write posts like you did.
You sound amazingly like Donzel, Casy. I could swear you are one and the same.

Re: Benghazi Hearings—Democrats Walk Out...
As I read it, those Democrats originally cited, walked out before the victims' families testified—whilst the others left at some time subsequent. Snopes/MediaMatters would come "on record" as saying "Everybody leaves sometime".Casy wrote:"...I just want to go on record as saying that I find it totally disgusting and unamerican that 18 of 24 Republicans hated the families of those Benghazi victims soooooo much that they did not stay to hear the testimony.
But OK, you're "on record".
