In this weeks paper the rates that Wolfeboro citizens are paying were less than PSNH and NHEC. Yep, Wolfeboro is at 83.20 for 500KWH while Coop is 6 dollars higher at 88.59,
while PSNH weighs in at 92.00. But wait, what about the two Municipals Littleton and Ashland which we should be compared with. While Littleton is at 54.16 some 28.00 dollars less,
while Ashland is at 71.60, !2.00 less, yet no one complains and everyone is happy that 3/4 of a million dollars can be taken out of profits for the next five years, not affecting the current
rates. So how come there is money in the bank? Maybe the rates are too high to began with. Time to start paying attention to the Electric Dept, so we can afford our bills.

WE have 3/4 of a million in the bank? I think we are being overcharged if we have that kind of money in reserve!!!! That is what we are going to buy the smart meters that we don't need with?

Unfortunately I think that it is not only in the electric dept. that the people don't really know what is going on.

I thought of this thread when viewing a news-story of an uproar in major electric providers.

"Electricity from natural gas-fueled power plants has dropped the price of power on the wholesale market, creating an opening for alternative power sellers.

"The new, fast-growing industry of deregulated electricity in New Hampshire may have hit a bump: One of the first companies to offer lower rates in New Hampshire, Resident Power, has seen a major provider suspended by New England’s power grid.

From what I understand it is true you don't save much by buying from another company. You still have all the others charges from your main company and they add up to much more that the actual electricity used.
