If I asked the President of GM what the ratio of the angular velocity of the input gear to the angular velocity of the output gear for a certain transmission, should he have the answer or should he tell me to call the engineering department that designs gears?

Carney told the reporter/s to ask the HSS about what they wanted to know. IMO that was an appropriate answer.

Carney does not have all the answers for any given subject and neither do you WHL.

He looked flustered. It's gotta take a toll on you when you have to answer the press' questions without giving an answer. Did you notice how he had no answer when the reporters asked if they could talk to someone from HSS.

Carney cannot answer all the technical questions, you know it and I know it,

You can blow this out of proportion all you want but Carney did the right thing.

He ignored the question and kept walking as the reporters were making a request to talk to a representative from HSS.

If the reporter wants to talk to someone from the HSS then he should contact the HSS. Carney doesn't give a shit if he does so why did the reporter ask that stupid question?

But that's his job. To take questions from the press, which also can involve questions he would rather not answer. He was frustrated by challenging questions and left. If he doesn't have the answers shouldn't he bring the HHH spokesperson in with him to answer? Don't we as citizens have a right to know how our money is being spent? Oh no, I guess not, we are just serfs. Usually the press is pretty meek and mild and lets Carney get away with non answers. Lately they have been tougher and I think he is a bit like Obama -wondering how they DARE to challenge him. Having said that, it is a very tough job being Press Secretary and I have always felt sorry for them. Why anyone would want the job is beyond me.

The man just doesn't have all the answers, period. Using your recommendation Carney would have to bring the whole Obama administration to all press meetings.

Because as you know you don't just call up HHH and ask a question. If he needed help answering questions, he should have brought a spokesperson from HHH to answer them.

Are you saying that Carney knows what questions will be asked before the news conference starts? I didn't know that. I've never seen a press secretary bring anybody to a news conference.

Have you ever seen anyone with prior press secretaries? I guess that's his title.

Quite often they DO know what questions will be asked. And they know what is in the news so they certainly should expect questions on those subjects. And if Obamacare isn't in the news now, I don't know what is. I don't think it happens often, but I think it has happened, that they anticipate questions on a certain subject so bring someone along with them.

Why don't they just do away with the press secretaries job. I haven't seen an administration yet that a press secretary ever completely answers a question.

Maybe the President should have a press meeting more often. Make him answer the tough questions.
