When German Chancellor Angela Merkel celebrated the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Berlin in 2008, she could not have imagined that she was blessing the workplace for the largest and most effective gaggle of American spies anywhere outside of the United States.

It seems straight out of a grade-B movie, but it has been happening for the past 11 years:

The National Security Agency (NSA) has been using Mrs. Merkel as an instrument to spy on the president of the United States. We now know that the NSA has been listening to and recording her cellphone calls since 2002.

In 2008, when the new embassy opened, the NSA began using more sophisticated techniques that included not only listening, but also following her. Mrs. Merkel uses her cellphone more frequently than her landline, and she uses it to communicate with her husband and family members, the leadership of her political party, and her colleagues and officials in the German government.

She also uses her cellphone to speak with foreign leaders, among whom have been President George W. Bush and President Obama. Thus, the NSA — which Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama have unlawfully and unconstitutionally authorized to obtain and retain digital copies of all telephone conversations, texts and emails of everyone in the United States, as well as those of hundreds of millions of persons in Europe and Latin America — has been listening to the telephone calls of both American presidents whenever they have spoken with the chancellor.

One could understand the NSA’s propensity to listen to the conversations of those foreign leaders who wish us ill. One would expect that the agency would do so. However, the urge to listen to the leadership of our allies serves no discernible intelligence-gathering purpose.

Rather, it fuels distrust between our nations, and in the case of Mrs. Merkel, exacerbates memories of the all-seeing and all-hearing Stasi, which was the East German version of the KGB that ruled that police state from the end of World War II until it collapsed in 1989. Mrs. Merkel was raised in East Germany, and she has a personal revulsion at the concept of omnipresent state surveillance.

Is Obama a dupe or a totalitarian, megalomaniacal liar? Empty Animal Farm, anyone? Millions lose coverage, Obama channels Orwell

Post  fshnski Fri Nov 01, 2013 7:40 am

WASHINGTON, October 31, 2013 — Does everyone remember this?

“And if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you. It hasn’t happened yet. It won’t happen in the future.”

This statement was given during what amounts to a victory speech in Portland, Oregon shortly after the law was passed in 2010.

And now there is this…

“Clearly, it should have been caveated with, ‘Assuming you have a policy that, in fact, does do what the bill is designed to do…’” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD).

Did anyone else see this coming?

President Obama made the promise on up to twelve different occasions to the American people that if they wanted to keep their plan, they could. Well, now we know that is not really what the President meant.

Apparently “no one will lose coverage” really means “millions will lose coverage.” Accordingly, instead of taking the President to the mat for this, outlets such as Huffington Post and MSNBC have already run stories about how “well what the President really mean to say was…”

Maybe we should reiterate it for you, for the hard of reading.

“If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.”

Period.

That does not sound as though it is not final, or literal, or open for interpretation. It sounds as though it’s quite a done deal.

It follows a very long pattern of Progressives turning their own phrases or the phrases of others to meet their own ends. “Period” means “not really,” and “freedom of speech” means “freedom to believe what I say,” and “shall not infringe” means “will entirely infringe.”

It is very reminiscent of a little known book by a guy named George Orwell called Animal Farm. In it, the animals on the farm led by the pigs win a glorious revolution against the tyrannical farmer. They establish laws which are meant to both distinguish them from the people, and to make them all equal. It was a glorious social experiment which had tremendous potential and grand visions. Well over time rivals were silenced, animals defected, and rules were changed. Soon it wasn’t “No animal shall sleep in a bed,” it was “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.” At first it was “No animal shall drink,” and then it was “No animal shall drink to excess…” Finally, there was “All animals are equal,” and finally “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”

“If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.” Said the President.

Well we know that is simply not true. Because what it really turned out to be was…”

“…if insurers decided to downgrade or cancel the substandard plans, what we said under the law is that you have got to replace them with quality, comprehensive coverage because that, too, was a central premise of the Affordable Care Act from the very beginning…”

So all healthcare plans are equal, but some are more equal than others.

And what the President said by “period” really just means “whatever we want to do.”

The revolutionaries have taken over, they made their promises, and they have broken them.

But they are in power, so there is nothing anyone can do until the next election cycle. It is very difficult to imagine how Jay Carney would spin this, but this is what he said.

“It’s true that there are existing health care plans on the individual market that don’t meet those minimum standards and therefore do not qualify for the Affordable Care Act…”

What’s more? Apparently they knew this for years.

According to an NBC Newsbusters report published on Oct. 28, 2013, the Administration was aware that individuals would lose their coverage up to three years ago. Provisions within the ACA made those policies which could be grandfathered in adhere to very strict and narrowly avoidable standards.

Well, as it turns out up to 67 off% of individual policies would not be eligible for grandfathering.

Jay Carney’s response to this? The standard Progressive response.

“Millions of Americans will now have insurance they previously did not have…”

By that he means, it is perfectly acceptable for the leader of the free World to lie if it means that we can sacrifice the liberties of tens of millions for the economic stability of millions. It is the same argument they bring to gun control; if we have to put eighty million Americans at risk of violent crimes in order to save one life then everything will be fine.

President Obama lied, he told the people of America on a dozen occasions that you could keep your coverage, but he knew that you could not.

When it was revealed that they knew the entire time that millions would be dropped, they said that was the price you would have to pay.

He will not be held accountable, he will not face any kind of justice, and he will continue to enjoy the full support of the media and his Democratic allies.

All Americans are created equal, except the Obama Administration is more equal than you.
