Judge Strikes "Teacher's Tenure" Law...
That's why the decision by California Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu last Tuesday echoed like a nuclear blast far beyond the Golden State. In Florida and New Jersey, where Republican governors are seeking to end teacher tenure, and Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania, where elected officials are seeking major reforms, the decision provided much-needed leverage.
“The decision in California is the first time the unions have been challenged,” Sandi Jacobs, vice president and managing director of state policy for the National Council on Teacher Quality, told FoxNews.com. “This is new and groundbreaking, especially in states where legislation has not shown interest.”
...about time..

You should really get up to speed. Teacher tenure has been largely neutralized by Race To The Top, which is a change brought to us by the Obama Administration. Apparently there are some situations where you like change when it suits your right wing agenda.

When was I ever in favor of tenure for teachers?
With teachers' sexual assaults on students increasing every year, not to mention the disastrous effect that indoctrination has brought to this country's next generation—some teachers should be in jail—not paid to sit in an office (or worse, at home)...doing nothing.
"Race to the Top" has been maligned by Huffington Post!
Where have we seen "gaming the system" before?
A mindset that will take us to Detroit.

"All of these elements are problematic. Evaluating teachers in relation to student test scores will have many adverse consequences. It will make the current standardized tests of basic skills more important than ever, and even more time and resources will be devoted to raising scores on these tests. The curriculum will be narrowed even more than under George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind, because of the link between wages and scores. There will be even less time available for the arts, science, history, civics, foreign language, even physical education. Teachers will teach to the test. There will be more cheating, more gaming the system.
