That has been disproven so many times......more money in the pockets of the people, results in more demand for goods....simple economics, get it??!!!!!!!!!!!

One could say that less taxes, meaning more money in the pockets of Americans could stimulate the economy but you disagree with that. And prices wouldn't even have to go up because the increased cost of labor wouldn't have to be added into the mix.

Reality check....that theory hasn't proven itself in over 30 years of implementation. Trickle down economics is a joke as we are seeing in todays economy.

You are the one who said that increasing minimum wage means more money in the pockets of Americans, therefore they will spend more. So now you don't really mean that?

Yes, if we paid .10 for a load of bread, people would be making $30. a week. A car would cost a thousand dollars. A house would cost $5000. It's all relative. (Those are not exact prices, I will say it before you do.)

You are obviously discounting corporate greed, WHL. If Costco, Market Basket and Starbucks can afford to pay their employees well and be successful, then every company in America can!! The state of Washington proves that they can legislate a higher minimum wage and have it's companies successful. The more the employees have a chance at a decent wage the less people you'll have on food stamps and housing assistance. That's just common sense and the conservative brand is coming to the end of the line in this country.

People don’t go into business to create jobs; they go into business to make money. Labor is a cost. The more expensive labor is, the more attractive nonhuman replacements for labor become. The minimum wage makes labor more expensive. Obama knows this, which is why he so often demonizes ATM machines as job-killers.

Just a few days before Obama’s big speech on income inequality, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos launched a media frenzy by revealing on 60 Minutes that he’s working on the idea of having a fleet of robot drones deliver products straight to your door. I can only imagine the discomfort this caused for any UPS or FedEx delivery guys watching the show. There are still a lot of bugs to be worked out, but does anyone doubt that this is coming?

The Washington Post recently published this article on the new $15 minimum wage law in SeaTac, Washington. The article states:

“… union workplaces are exempt…”

This exemption is wrong because the law is supposed to treat everyone equally.

But also, it is an extreme example of hypocrisy. It was unions who got the ball rolling on this $15 minimum wage. It was unions who said that all workers should be paid at least $15 an hour.

But now, these very same unions are getting an exemption from the very same law that they so strongly supported.

Would liberals please explain why union workshops got an exemption from SeaTac’s $15 minimum wage law that was initiated and supported by these very same unions?

NO kidding. As they try to force higher minimum wages, jobs are being cut to part time.

The United States was and is a Capitalist country. We operate by the laws of supply and demand.

The idea of what is "deserved" is a Socialist/Marxist idealist paradigm that can only be realized by near-complete government intervention and control.

In this country, no one "deserves" anything. They are worth what their skill-set allows. The minimum wage is not, nor was it intended to be, a living wage. If a person wants that they need to improve their skills and get a job that pays a living wage.

On top of that you are arguing for about 4% of the population here. The majority of them are young workers. Less than 2% of that 4% are married.


That is the BLS demographics of the minimum wage worker that came out in March 2014.

So basically all this talk is about handing $30K a year to teenagers and college students.

It’s all bumper sticker politics aimed at the uninformed population.
