Time To End The Wars
The GOP war mongerers are not happy as Obama pivots away from a war footprint:

Re: Time To End The Wars
And how many years has he had to end some of these wars? And in his first two years, he had total control of the White House as well as both houses of Congress. Why now??? Could it be to take people's minds off all the trouble he is in- trying to create a diversion? I don't think the way we go to war makes any difference in the war against terror (or anything for that matter). We are not serious. We don't go in and get the job done. We go in and pussy foot around and let our guys get killed. Don't shoot until you are shot at!! So until we can change our strategy, I don't think we should be going to war either. but what do you suggest we do? We surely can't let these Muslims keep attacking our people!!

So who ordered our troops into Afghanistan and Iraq?

I'm glad you agree with me!

With Team-Obama's Rules of Engagement...we don’t need to be engaged in any military action.WHL wrote:Don't shoot until you are shot at!! So until we can change our strategy, I don't think we should be going to war either."

The Answer:
""Soldiers and sailors don’t know when they set forth whether they’re marching into a victory or a loss, whether they themselves will survive the day or not. They are courageous for wearing the uniform and taking the risk, and we owe them all our everlasting thanks for making the attempt."
Wars are rarely an uninterrupted progression of victorious battles.

I do agree with you. We don't win the wars we fight and until we are ready to win, we might as well stay away. I don't think it is fair to these young men and women to put them in harm's way. Giving them orders not to shoot until they are shot at is ridiculous. And if we go to war, we need to go in, bomb 'em, get rid of the problem and get out, let themselves build themselves back up. It will keep them busy and they won't have time to think about how to kill us. Bush should have taken this tactic, in and out, get it done with, not be in there for 10 years. But since he didn't, Obama should have. But neither of them got us out of those places.

Good statement, WHL, but letting Afghanistan and Iraq fall into chaos by our early departure would have been just as big a mistake as the invasions themselves. What choice did Obama have, but to see the wars to their completions?

Re: Time To End The Wars
"...Antiwar activists who helped elect Obama accused him of using the same “off the books” funding as his predecessor George W. Bush when Obama requested an additional $83.4 billion from Congress for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – a provision which Obama had voted against when he was a Senator..."
Where was the outrage?
Where was the outrage when Obama hired Halliburton?
We invaded Libya.
The War on Terror isn't over.
Are you saying that Benghazi wasn't the start of a proxy war against Syria?
Will you say now, that Team-Obama won't involve our military in the Middle East?

Yes, when Bush was president we had to watch on tv all the time about how terrible the wars were and how we needed to get out. They showed antiwar activist all the time. Let me ask you, how much have you seen since O has been president?

Re: Time To End The Wars
Obama's "Battle to End War" lost more US troops than Bush—where are the photos of the returning coffins?
