Vacation time again for the Obamas

This is the 7.6 million dollar house they will be staying in while they vacation.  The owner is a contributor to both Obama and the DNC.  So much for the crap about how all the rich give to the Republicans.

First dog Bo is airlifted to Obama holiday home

Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft.

Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.

In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.

Bo, the president's Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.

It was the first time the Ospreys have been taken on holiday by a US president.

In its development phase, many pilots and scores of US Marines were killed in mishaps. Don Rumsfeld wanted to completely eliminate the Osprey due to hazards, but mostly cost over-runs and general non-airworthiness. He probably could have added that he wouldn't trust transporting the President's dog in it. The US Marines wanted it, so that objection got overruled somewhere.  

Operating costs are $9,520 per hour.

My Florida neighbor has a ramshackle cabin there—worth millions—and knows the ferry operator on duty the night Ted sank his Oldsmobile at Chappaquiddick. ('Course my ObamaCare-loving neighbor protects the guilty near-President, and doesn't share what he's been told by that operator).

What an adorable photo of the Obama's going on vacation.  They make a lovely couple.

Why can't the dog go with them. And why can't the kids go with them. I heard the kids were coming later on another aircraft. That is certainly the pattern for the Obamas. He tells the rest of us we need to go with less, yet he does every wasteful thing possible for his lifestyle.

At least Obama doesn't tie his dog on top of a transportation vehicle when he takes a trip.

Obama isn't doing anything different than any other president has done when he goes on vacation.

Does that make it OK?  Heck if I know.

When you have only a Nash Rambler for vacation transportation, you don't air-ship your dog: you build a roof-rack for a kennel, and drive at yesteryear's speeds.

Try to empathize with the Middle Class: they're the ones who are going to feel the pain of Socialism. (And they already are).

I have not gone on a vacation in 7 years. The reason I haven't isn't because I didn't want to, it's because I can't afford it and have way too much to do to keep my business and home running correctly. I felt it was more important to face my responsibilities rather than squander time and money on frivolous endeavors.

I feel sorry for you and also your family.
Maybe some time management skills would help you get the time off that everyone needs periodically.

If you can't afford a vacation then it's time to seek other employment that will pay you enough to take some time off.

You're right. I did drive 6 hours to western New York to see my mother for an evening a couple of years ago. I came back the following morning. You must have a small circle of friend. You don't sound like you know many average Americans.

Obama doesn't work much when he is in Washington anyway.  He even admits he's lazy. I also don't think they really wanted or care much for their dog.  I think they were pressured into getting one.

Yes I do have a small circle of friends, don't most people?  However I'm not just talking about friends who take vacations.

I have heard that some people get real stressed out when they take vacations.  It's sort of a social phobia thing that they have.
I'm not trying to say that is the reason why you don't take a vacation but some people just can't have fun when they have a vacation.

Anyway, to each their own.

I agree. Every time they leave for vacation (like now for August vacation) I say, good, we won't get any more laws passed, we are safe until they come back.
