Obama, one of the most-traveled presidents in history, to hit the road again
Already one of the most-traveled presidents in history, President Obama will travel next month to Indonesia, where he grew up as a boy.
The White House announced Friday that Mr. Obama will visit the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei in addition to Indonesia from Oct. 6 to Oct. 12 “as part of his ongoing commitment to increase U.S. political, economic and security engagement with the Asia Pacific.”
Mr. Obama lived for several years in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather after moving there from Hawaii as a child. In Indonesia, he will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders meeting, a forum for trade. He will also meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The president will then travel to Brunei for the U.S.-ASEAN summit and the East Asia summit, and to meet with the Sultan of Brunei.
In Malaysia, Mr. Obama will deliver the keynote address to the Global Entrepreneurship summit. His last stop will be in the Philippines.
Already this year, Mr. Obama has traveled to the Middle East, to Africa, to Europe and to the G-20 summit in Russia.
