I've been to NYC. I'll never go back.
What do rural areas get?
They get taxed by the Federal Government to rebuild Big Cities.
Big cities get the tax benefits of Municipal Bonds.News Buzzard wrote:"...I remember burned out buildings throughout the city that were subsequently renovated with tons of money from the Federal, State and City governments...

Until 2008, we were "A Nation of Laws" (...and not "A Nation of Men") : it's what distinguishes this country from the Banana Republics of Latin America.Anti Federalist wrote:Yeah, by being an authoritarian jackass.News Hawk wrote:Rudy Giuliani knew how to manage crime—course he is a Republican...
We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

That there are pieces of Styrofoam blowing around the streets of NYC shows the lack of responsibility among New Yorkers.
If it wasn't for Municipal Bonds (Federally-protected "loans" by people), there wouldn't be such monstrosities on America's landscapes.

The "dregs" are good?News Buzzard wrote:If 94% of the citizens being stopped walk away without so much as a summons, how do you calculate that they are the dregs of society? What is your criteria?fshnski wrote:You really like sticking up for the dregs of society don't you. You like those votes. Don't care where they come from. WHL is right. Good is bad and bad is good.

I don't know why we need so many laws in this country. What would happen if we got rid of all of them?
