Obama Weakens America...

Secretary of State John Kerry negotiated a ceasefire between Hamas terrorists and Israel last week. Kerry’s ceasefire lasted all of 90 minutes. The Israelis are outraged and more or less have no use for the Obama administration at this point. This is the second summer in a row that President Obama has proved himself and his administration completely inept in the middle east. Last summer he back tracked on a red line in Syria before abandoning the matter altogether. This year, he has no idea what to do with Israel and Hamas, though he likely has a better idea what to do there than in Iraq where ISIS is taking over.

Obama’s foreign policy comes down to weakening America abroad. He doesn’t back up much of anything he says. The nation’s he meddles in end up worse off. His administration negotiates with terrorists and then is shocked when they murder our ambassador’s and otherwise fail to abide by negotiated ceasefires. When things get particularly difficult, Obama retreats and moves onto other matters, usually domestic. Considering that Israel and Hamas have presented the administration with difficulty and embarrassment, it’s a safe bet Obama with pivot to a domestic issue this week or next.

The most likely domestic issue Obama will tackle is illegal immigration. He’s been threatening all year to do something unilaterally if Congress refuses to act. Congress is now on recess, having refused to do much of anything on immigration. Meanwhile in anticipation of unilateral action by Obama, thousands of illegals have crossed the border this year. Obama recently declared he’s going to have to “act alone.” He has no Constitutional authority to act alone of course, laws are written by Congress not the President. If the Congress won’t act, the Constitution does not have a provision allowing unilateral Presidential action.

The one thing the Constitution allows the President to do unilaterally is pardon illegals. Even if Obama did that, they would break the law again the second the ink is dry due to their continued illegal entry into the United States. A mass pardon would be good for a day and it wouldn’t provide these people work permits, citizenship or residency. Obama wants these things, thus he won’t be pardoning anyone. With Congress refusing to act and with international situations becoming problematic for this administration, you can bet he’ll be pivoting to a domestic immigration.

If Obama’s unilateral actions are allowed to stand, he’ll further weaken this country. This time at home rather than abroad. If Obama is allowed to legalize people who are here illegal by unilaterally writing law, will the Constitution even matter anymore? No President would ever have a need to go to Congress and ask them to pass a law. The President would simply be able to write the law and enforce it himself. The next Republican President could unilaterally cut taxes, repeal gun control laws, refuse to fund abortion providers and enforce stricter immigration laws written written by himself. He could even unilaterally repeal Obamacare. If a President is capable of writing his own laws without Congress, our entire system of government is undermined and our nation will be weakened. Obama is after weakening America abroad, he also wants to weaken the rule of law at home.
