In fact the airstrikes were ordered before the beheadings. That's the timeline you must have missed!

On August 19th the video of the beheading was released; however, we don't know exactly when Foley was beheaded. A gap in the video may have allowed ISIS to have followed his short execution with a "peaceful and perfect beheading" with no struggling.

A surgeon was interviewed recently by Sean Hannity, and he said that a beheading with a knife would be near-impossible.

Airstrikes started August 18th. It sounds like NB is trying to split hairs. Remember, that there's a difference between "authorizing airstrikes", "ordering airstrikes" and "executing airstrikes".
