Celebrations turn destructive at NH campuses

DURHAM, N.H. —Police in riot gear were forced to disperse thousands of students at three New Hampshire colleges who became rowdy and disorderly, causing serious damage on some campuses, according to police.

Five UNH students were arrested after thousands gathered on Main Street in Durham. In Keene, one student was injured by a thrown rock. And in Plymouth, video shows students climbing on light poles until they collapse.

At the University of New Hampshire, police used pepper spray and pepper balls to disperse an estimated 3,000 students who became unruly after the Red Sox win, officials said.
