A dishonest presidency Empty A dishonest presidency

Post  fshnski Mon Nov 04, 2013 4:40 pm

The Wall Street Journal broke the news this weekend that, even as President Obama was telling the American people they could keep their health plans, “some White House policy advisors objected to the breadth of Mr. Obama’s ‘keep your plan’ promise. They were overruled by political aides.”

Overruled by political aides? This is simply damning.

It’s not easy to get a lie into a presidential speech.

Every draft address is circulated to the White House senior staff and key Cabinet officials in something called the “staffing process.” Every line is reviewed by dozens of senior officials, who offer comments and factual corrections. During this process, it turns out, some of Obama’s policy advisers objected to the “you can keep your plan” pledge, pointing out that it was untrue. But it stayed in the speech. That does not happen by accident. It requires a willful intent to deceive.

Post  fshnski Mon Nov 04, 2013 5:08 pm

“If you like your health-care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health-care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.” That statement was clear, unequivocal and wrong — and Obama and his advisers knew it.
The president’s defenders are twisting around for ways to explain away his 16 words.

The New York Times wrote in an editorial Sunday that “Mr. Obama clearly misspoke.” Misspoke? On 24 separate occasions? Sorry, the president didn’t “misspeak.”

This was an premeditated deception. This wasn’t something Obama ad-libbed. It was a line in a presidential speech that was carefully reviewed by the entire White House senior staff. Obama’s political advisers were told by his policy aides the statement was inaccurate — but they decided to let Americans believe the falsehood.

Obama’s former chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau, told the Journal that the speechwriters were working to find ways to explain a complex policy and that the goal was “simplification and ease of explanation . . . while still being true.” Except what Obama said wasn’t true.

Every president faces the challenge of explaining complex policies in simple terms. But the quest for simplicity is no excuse for dishonesty.

Obama’s own advisers told the Journal that they knew those 16 words were untrue, but Obama kept on saying them — over and over and over again.

If that’s the case, then Obama didn’t misspeak.

He lied.

A dishonest presidency Empty Obama adds an ‘if’ to his ‘you can keep your plan’ promise

Post  fshnski Mon Nov 04, 2013 8:56 pm

Now obama is blaming us.

On Monday, Mr. Obama added new language to his vow and claimed that Americans were — or should have been — aware all along that policy cancellations were bound to happen.

he Obama administration has found a way to give unions relief from an Obamacare tax nearly three weeks after Republicans rejected a Democratic push to include the labor carve-out in the latest budget deal.

The Department of Health and Human Services quietly released a final rule last week that includes an intention to exempt some union insurance plans from a substantial new tax known as the reinsurance fee.

As part of Obamacare, the tax was supposed to be levied against all insurance plans to share the risk for insurers taking on the sickest patients next year.

But unions, which were among the strongest supporters of the Affordable Care Act when it passed in 2010, had pressed the administration for changes to the law, arguing that the measure is harmful to insurance plans accessed by more than 15 million union members and would raise costs.

Before last week, unions were upset that the Obama administration had failed to grant them a carve-out even after delaying a requirement that all businesses with 50 employees or more offer health insurance or pay steep fines to 2015.

In July, union leaders -- including Teamsters President James Hoffa -- wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., warning of “nightmare scenarios” for millions of workers if the law is not changed to accommodate labor health plans.

“Congress wrote this law; we voted for you,” they wrote. “We have a problem; you need to fix it.”

A dishonest presidency Empty ObamaCare Not Subject to Federal Anti-Kickback Laws

Post  fshnski Mon Nov 11, 2013 4:55 pm

The Obama administration exempted the federal exchanges and subsidies in ObamaCare from federal health laws against kickbacks, fraud, and bribery, the New York Times reported last week. CNN has ignored this story, however.

The Times stated: "The surprise decision, disclosed last week, exempts subsidized health insurance from a law that bans rebates, kickbacks, bribes and certain other financial arrangements in federal health programs." Commentary magazine noted that "it encourages precisely the kickback schemes this statute was put in place to prevent."

Commentary also highlighted the irony in the administration's prosecution of Johnson & Johnson for kickbacks:

"And the inconsistency is the giveaway: the Justice Department is prosecuting high-profile companies (like Johnson & Johnson) for a practice the government plainly considers an illegal kickback scheme. And yet now that same government is giving the green light to the practice, which will be a financial boon to the companies that helped ObamaCare pass in the first place."

CNN did report this story. Anchor Ashleigh Banfield stated on November 4:

"Health care giant Johnson & Johnson, has agreed to pay more than $2.2 billion to settle claims that it marketed three drugs for unapproved uses. The drugs in question are Risperdal, Invega and Natrecor. The payout also covers claims that the company paid kickbacks to doctors and at least one pharmacy. The Justice Department calls this one of the largest health care fraud settlements in United States history."

A dishonest presidency Empty This is who we are supposed to trust our most personal information with.

Post  fshnski Tue Nov 12, 2013 12:02 pm

Watch the video if you dare.

James O’Keefe, the guerrilla videographer who helped bring down ACORN (the “community organizing” group that Barack Obama worked for as a lawyer and trainer) and got NPR’s president fired, is back.

This time, his undercover investigators focused on Obamacare’s “navigators,” the nearly 50,000 people who, in the words of the Department of Health and Human Services, “will serve as an in-person resource for Americans who want additional assistance in shopping for and enrolling in plans” on the Obamacare exchanges (at least when they’re finally working). The total value of grants doled out for nonprofits and community organizations to hire navigators has topped $67 million nationwide, and some of the money is going to a group run by ACORN’s highly controversial founder.

The events of O’Keefe’s video of a Texas navigator site run by the National Urban League are a familiar sight to viewers of his past efforts exposing Medicaid and voter fraud. Government-paid workers supposedly trained to uphold the law advise clients on how to lie on government forms, evade legal requirements, and ignore proper procedures.

I wonder who trained these so called navigators? Did somebody coach them to tell applicants to lie about smoking? Were they trained to tell applicants not to mention if they get paid in cash? 67 million dollars was spent on navigators that encourage signees to circumnavigate the law!

I am still thinking about all the money that has been spent on websites and people to set up those websites (most of which don't work) and people to answer phones to sign applicants up by phone and more people to sign applicants up in person plus all the IRS people that have been hired etc. etc.  We have hired so many people to set this useless program up we could have paid for healthcare for everyone in the country for their whole lives.  What a stupid stupid thing this Obamacare is.  I can't believe it.

And the Democrats insist we spend more good money on this piece of crap! Why don't we just send that money overseas. Wait! We already do!

Do you remember CGI?

CGI is the Canadian company obama hired to create America's affordable health care plan. If you remember, obamacare was a complete and utter failure when it was released on Oct 1. Many, many people were very surprised when CGI was hired again after failing miserably to get healthcare.gov up and running. They are being paid millions of dollars, by us, to fix the obamanation. Why would you rehire a company that failed? Could it be that obama is afraid an outside IT would find out about all the shenanigans that were going on behind the scenes prior to the disastrous implication of obamacare? Are they being bribed now so they won't blame obama for all the warnings they gave to the administration about the site not being ready. It was never tested until days before Oct 1 and never tested in totality. Just like the Democrats buy their voters they are buying CGI's silence.

Obama hits lowest approval rating of presidency: Poll

President Obama has reached his lowest approval rating in any Quinnipiac University national poll since being elected president, with 39 percent of registered voters now approving of his job performance and 54 percent disapproving.

The numbers released Tuesday compare to a 45 percent/49 percent approval/disapproval split Oct. 1, before the partial government and problems with the rollout of his health care overhaul took hold.

The previous low was a 41/55 split in October 2011 after that summer’s debt-ceiling standoff with Congress.

Nearly two-thirds of independents disapprove of the president’s job performance, and 91 percent of Republicans disapprove. Democrats approve by a 79 percent to 14 percent margin.

For the first time, voters say by a 52 percent to 44 percent margin that Mr. Obama is not honest and trustworthy.

Obama's dishonesty has become so obvious that even his own party is calling him out and distancing themselves from him.  They are finally seeing the light and recognize this man is pathological liar.

Rep. Kurt Schrader, a Democrat from Oregon, said that President Obama was "grossly misleading" on Obamacare. He also accused White House press secretary Jay Carney of "double talk" for also misleading on Obamacare. Another non-red state Democrat Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) has signed on to become a co-sponsor on legislation from Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that would require insurance companies to continue offering their existing health care plans.

Billy Clinton signaled that it was OK to break out, and now the Dem solidarity is gone.  Just 24 hours since Billy Clinton hit Obama with “You need to keep your promises” (seriously how funny is that), The Dems one by one are peeling away from the party line.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no practical way to get the genie back in the bottle. The cancellations are final; there will be no going back.  The only solution is to rip Obamacare out by the roots and salt the earth.  The Republican plan of purchasing policies across state lines and allow competition to drive down prices is the only way to go.   The government has never run anything more efficiently than the private sector.

Landrieu is one of the ones who had her arm seriously twisted to vote for Obamacare in the first place. Now she is very sorry she did. She was probably afraid for her life before if she didn't vote for it though. It is seriously funny when Clintons says you need to keep your promises. There is NO way to get the genie back in the bottle. It is not that easy to just bring back those policies that were dropped- a lot of the reasons those were dropped were that they didn't carry the mandatory things like pregnancy, drug rehabilitation, birth control, etc. which are now all required on all policies.

And that's why we're paying more than twice the amount than any other country for our healthcare! Rolling Eyes

Social Security and Medicare have been around for decades and are great programs. Medicare suffers because of the cost of healthcare, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.

The sooner the right wing accepts the fact that Obamacare is not going anywhere, the better off we'll all be!

A dishonest presidency Empty More People Trust Fox News For Information About ObamaCare Than Obama

Post  fshnski Wed Nov 13, 2013 6:18 pm

The news about the President's signature legislative accomplishment continues to get worse.

A new poll by YouGov finds that more people trust Fox News for information about the so-called "Affordable Care Act" than trust President Obama:

Notice, too, how little CBS, CNN, NBC, Administration officials, and Democrats in Congress are trusted.

Maybe it's because such folk were all behind the President pushing this program before it crashed before our very eyes.

Please also notice that only local TV news sources and Fox are actually more trusted concerning this issue than not trusted:

Notice that MSNBC is the most untrusted.

Maybe its because the shills at that so-called "news" outlet have more dishonestly covered this program than any other.
