New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
The attached table shows average premiums for Carroll County, New Hampshire, and the premiums listed do not reflect tax credits under the expansion of Medicaid in the new law.
https://www.healthcare.gov/find-premium-estimates/#results/&aud=indv&type=med&state=NH&county=Carroll&cov=family
I know that currently a family policy in our area costs in the area of $26 thousand a year or $2,166 a month. On the chart you will observe a Gold plan to be in the vicinity of $1,000 a month, so a family of 4 with an annual income of $50 thousand would be paying considerably less than that. Not a bad deal!!

What is the coverage on the Gold Plan, NB? Do you honestly think a family of four that makes 50,000 a year now is paying half of that in insurance unless their employer is paying it for them?

Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
The link I attached states that the Gold plan covers 80% of the coverage, and here is a calculator for a Wolfeboro family of four with an income of $54,000:
http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/#state=nh&zip=03894&income-type=dollars&income=54%2C000&employer-coverage=0&people=4&alternate-plan-family=individual&adult-count=2&adults%5B0%5D%5Bage%5D=21&adults%5B0%5D%5Btobacco%5D=0&adults%5B1%5D%5Bage%5D=21&adults%5B1%5D%5Btobacco%5D=0&child-count=2&child-tobacco=0
As you can see, that family of 4 would pay about $3,956 annually, or $330 a month for the Silver plan.
Yes, WHL, I actually believe the hard numbers I have read!

You should try the website where the crows came from. It was very active with leftational threads. No worrying about facts or that stuff. You would fit right in there. The problem is … that would sorta be like switching from Fox to MSNBC.

I am sure if searched the internet real hard you could find a few more people in the country where cost have actually gone down. Unfortunately it is not the case for the vast majority.

It's a little confusing because it says your out of pocket on a silver plan can be no more than $10,400 per year.

How many Carroll Count-ians Drive Chevy Volts?
How will the Carroll County plan "read" after November?

Is NB successfully registered

Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
I believe that's based on the income and family size I plugged in, $54 thousand and 4 people, and I read it to mean that the total cost for the family would be the premium plus the $10,400. Remember that the Gold package is 80/20. Now the 20% factor is capped at $10,400. That makes it even better than I originally thought!WHL wrote:It's a little confusing because it says your out of pocket on a silver plan can be no more than $10,400 per year.

The projections, prepared by the Society of Actuaries in March, 2013 predicted some pretty outrageous premium increases in the likes of California,62%, Alabama, 60%, Texas, 34% and Arizona 41%. Only in New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey would the premiums decline slightly. Maybe the computer models used by the Society of Actuaries are just plumb ridiculous and wrong..."

That's very interesting! You post a graph from the Heritage Foundation and the information I posted is from Healthcare.gov. Also, your depiction of New York is from the 1970's, long before New York became the most expensive real estate in the world.

1) Wolfeboro has expensive real estate also, but still gets its public toilets scarred.
2) The Heritage Foundation didn't care for Romney, either.
3) Forbes quoted The Society of Actuaries.

Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
I doubt if that is the total cost. Generally out of pocket means deductible plus co pays. I have never heard it to mean payments. Besides even at a thousand dollars a month that is 12000 a year.News Buzzard wrote:I believe that's based on the income and family size I plugged in, $54 thousand and 4 people, and I read it to mean that the total cost for the family would be the premium plus the $10,400. Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
It's $12 thousand a year before the tax credit, and a family of 4 making $54 thousand a year will get one. Even if it were $12 thousand a year it's a hell of a lot cheaper than $26 thousand a year! You just don't want to accept the fact that this thing might actually work because Obama's name is attached to it!! When they get that website up and running Obamacare is going to become very popular!!

Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
Well, the example of the family making 54thousand a year was for the silver plan, but it really doesn't matter. Whatever they end up paying WILL be subsidized by the rest of us. What this family probably has now is coverage at the parent's jobs and the kids are free on Healthy Kids so I don't really know how much better off they will really be. Unless they don't work in which case they are on Medicaid.

Re: New Hampshire Premiums For Carroll County
I just don't get it!! Anyone can navigate through the government website to come up with the same numbers I did. The government website has a portal to the Kaiser Foundation's calculator for tax credits. Perhaps the Kaiser Foundation should have set up the government website, but in the end I believe it's all going to work, despite the opposition!!
As far as the rest of us subsidizing others, we've been doing that for decades. The purpose of Obamacare is to mandate that healthy people get insurance, as recommended by the Heritage Foundation and Mitt Romney years ago.
