Keep out of our state!
WASHINGTON, D.C. —Outside political groups spent more on New Hampshire's race for governor per vote than any other race in the country last year, according to a new report from a Washington think tank.
The Center for Public Integrity found that groups like the Republican Governors Association, the Democratic Governors Association, unions and other groups vastly spent more than even the candidates combined. The group says this is a direct result of the controversial U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Citizens United case allowing for unlimited campaign contributions and spending by independent groups as a matter of free speech.
In the race for governor, Democratic nominee Maggie Hassan and Republican nominee Ovide Lamontagne raised $13 million combined, they said. Outside groups spent $18 million. This amounts to about $24 per voter the highest in the nation. Wisconsin, the second highest state, saw spending per voter nearly half that rate.
Benefiting the most in this situation was Hassan, who eventually won the contest. Democratic-aligned groups spent a $1 million more than their Republican counterparts here. Even more critically, Hassan's campaign was essentially broke after the September primary, while Lamontagne had $250,000. These groups ran ads negatively framing Lamontange.

I agree with you. I know this is done all the time but I don't think it is right.

How the hell do they know what is best for New Hampshire. Or do they even care?

Re: Keep out of our state!
One of the bedrocks of our governmental infrastructure is federalism. This is the constitutional recognition of the legal origins of the United States as a union of independent states. America started, of course, with 13 colonies, which became 13 states, and gradually added 37 additional states.
Though the federal government is a behemoth today, it was created when each of those states ceded some of their sovereignty to the federal government. They did this in writing. The writing is the Constitution, and it explicitly states that the governmental powers not ceded are retained by the states.
President Reagan reminded us of the origins of the country in his first inaugural address when he stated, “All of us need to be reminded that the federal government did not create the states; the states created the federal government.”

That's the thing. Each of our states should not be told by others what to do. And they shouldn't care. This is where Anti should chime in. I wonder where Anti is. He must be busy at work.

Re: Keep out of our state!
One size fixes don't work because of the differences between our states. Why should we have to accept the rules and regulations that might be needed in a state dominated by their big cities. It doesn't make any sense unless you are a liberal … Auck pToo!
