A Touching Story...
"In May of 1951, at the request of local VFW members, the Army agreed to let me participate in an Armed Forces Day parade in my hometown of Joliet, Illinois. At the time, I was at Valley Forge Army Hospital recuperating from severe battle wounds sustained in the Korean War.
Was I willing to go? “I’ll go home for Dog Catcher’s Day if you’ll just get me there,” I replied".
