President Vetoes Keystone XL Pipeline
It's a shame the Republicans waste so much money on this nonsense.

It is his right to do so but why? Hanging your hat on a State Department review? How long does that take? Kick the can much.News Buzzard wrote:It's a shame the Republicans waste so much money on this nonsense.![]()

His statement says that a State Department review is the normal process, so why subvert that? The ranchers in Nebraska (all Republicans) aren't too happy with the pipeline either, so why shove it down their throats?

Take a look at the history of the process, Red Hill. About half way through, the Nebraska Legislature and Governor (all Republicans) objected to the route through the Sand Hills, over the Ogallala Aquifer. A good point, in my opinion, but that objection set the reset button on the environmental review.
In days gone by Obama would have given the Republicans Keystone Pipeline in exchange for a clean bill on DHS funding, but those days are gone since the radical Tea Party took over the House. That's a shame!

Moving oil by train doesn't involve any risk to the environment.

What choice did Obama have anyway? Tom Steyer is "green" billionaire who promised 55 million for the Obama library if Obama vetoed the pipeline bill.

Indiana steel plants had the contracts for the pipe and support structures. They're not going to be pleased in losing steady employment for 20,000 union employees...

That is how the Obama Administration works.
Warren Buffett's pet president did well.
His Burlington Northern Railroad will continue to reap big dollars shipping Canadian oil by rail with MORE spills and MORE environmental damage and MORE cost to consumers. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, both Obama supporters, profit enormously from Obama's pipeline veto.
Barack Obama was one of the most profitable investments that Buffett ever made.

Why can't you admit that Obama and the Democrats are heinously corrupt?
The ONLY reason that this line had to have presidential approval was because one new section of pipe would have gone underneath the border. One 80 foot section of pipe! FERC approved this thing right off the bat
Obama's excuse for the VETO is that there just hasn't been enough time to study the pipeline and that Congress is trying to circumvent a long standing practice of environmental study.

I guess 2300 days of "study" is just not enough time. The WH press corps laughed at the administration for this nonsense.
Team Obama is a joke - bought and paid for by environmental extremists, corporatists and supported by Leftist Parrots.

Ha, ha, ha. Typical NB non answer. For healthcare he says the Repubs will never repeal it, for the pipeline, he says override it.

Another well thought out response.

Obama has said he would work with Congress. He also has said on more than one occasion, "It's my way or the highway." It is apparent with his veto of Keystone XL and other implied actions since January, he has chosen the latter.
One of Obama's goals was to have more jobs for the American people. Back in 2009 Obama said he would create millions of shovel ready jobs (he lied). Now he has the chance to approve 42,000 good paying jobs (not paid by the tax payer) that will last about 2 years and what does he do to the people and the labor unions that supported him? He cuts their throats.

TransCanada Files Lawsuit against Obama Administration for Rejecting Keystone Pipeline
The battle over the Keystone XL oil pipeline reignited Wednesday afternoon with a lawsuit against the Obama administration charging the White House unfairly, illegally and unconstitutionally killed the project last year. In its lawsuit, TransCanada, the Canadian company proposing the massive project, asserts that President Obama — who blocked Keystone as part of a larger plan to control greenhouse-gas emissions and fight global warming — exceeded his constitutional authority in rejecting the project.
The company also filed a separate action claiming the president’s decision was “arbitrary and unjustified” and violated the North American Free Trade Agreement.
