Wolfeboro European AutoWerks
Where did Wolfeboro European AutoWerks on Center street go. Went by there yesterday on my way to Logan and the place was completely empty. I was going to bring my 1988 Jaquar XJR-S, V12 5.3-litre to them for a tune up. I heard that they were the best around when it came to working on JAG's.

I have a XJR-S, V12 5.3-litre which was built by JaguarSport and only 350 were made and I have one of them.WHL wrote:I didn't know they were gone.. What is a XJR_VS? I have a XJS V12 same year.
It's not driven very much and I keep it well protected.

Re: Wolfeboro European AutoWerks
From 1988, a special XJR-S version of the V12 5.3-litre car was produced by JaguarSport, a separate company owned 50:50 by Jaguar and TWR. This car had a distinctive body kit, special alloy wheels and suspension and handling improvements. the first 100 of these cars were termed "Celebration Le Mans" to commemorate Jaguar's 1988 win at Le Mans. Between 1988 and 1989 a total of 350 XJR-S cars were produced with the 5.3-litre engine. After September 1989 the change was made to a special 6.0-litre engine with a Zytec engine management system (234 kW (314 hp), later 245 kW (329 hp)). This was different from the standard 6.0-litre engine used in the late XJS models. The XJR-S stayed in the line until 1993; a total of 1,130 cars were built.

It is nice. It is off the road. I loved it so much that I couldn't give it up so I just stopped using it and garaged it. I don't know what I will do with it eventually. I bought it new. They were in very short supply then-very hard to come by. Did you notice in the link you put up that they said they don't know how many H and Es were made partly because there was a fire in the plant? Did you buy yours new too?Casy wrote:Nice!WHL wrote:Mine is the 1988 Hess and Eisenhardt.

I bought mine at an auction in Glasgow Scotland in 1992 and had it shipped over here.
Mine is in storage about 9 months out of the year.

When I drove mine I put it up in the winter too. They are too nice to subject to salt!

Re: Wolfeboro European AutoWerks
You know I always heard that but I never had one bit of trouble with mine.
Maybe I should edit that to say, it always leaked oil a bit. I told them that from the beginning and they said not to worry Jags did that. They said they had cork which didn't make tight connections. The FIRST day I took it back for service after it was off warranty they came to me and said: "Did you know your car is leaking oil?" I told them I had been telling them that ever since I had it. At that point they wanted to pull the engine and fix it.

So three months a year, your Jag must be around the Lakes Region; however, I don't remember seeing it.Casy wrote:I bought mine at an auction in Glasgow Scotland in 1992 and had it shipped over here.

Is it white in color?

I have been told that the owner went over the hill to Florida, and left owing money to a lot of people.
This is just scuttlebutt, I cannot vouch for its accuracy.

It's not just scuttlebutt Anti. There is a nice elderly couple who brought their vehicle to them to have a new engine put in. The owner told the couple that he needed @$3000 to order the engine and that as soon as it came in he would put it in. Well the engine never came in and the owner beat feet to Florida with the money. The owner also owes a good sum of money for the rent of the building. I'm sure other people got taken also. This guy will be caught and pay one way or the other for taking advantage of honest people.Anti Federalist wrote:I have been told that the owner went over the hill to Florida, and left owing money to a lot of people.

Casy is lucky that he didn't leave his car there.

Re: Wolfeboro European AutoWerks
Yeah, I had heard that as well, and that they were not the only people, seems there was more than a couple of people that got burned that way as well, paid substantial sums of money for repairs on the front end that never got done.Achigan wrote:It's not just scuttlebutt Anti. Weird, I had done business with them for years, starting when he took over the Bay St. garage after Doug passed away.
Glad I wasn't into them for anything more than inspections.
