Do you read the links or just the headline?
The average rate of change is “calculated by using a weighted average based on a geographic distribution of plans” and doesn’t necessarily represent the actual premium consumers will pay. But since that average is substantially lower than Johnson’s predictions and most enrollees will be shielded from the increase by federal subsidies, the charge seems particularly misleading.
Weighted average and subsidies used in the same paragraph!!

I would have figured the progs would have started bashing the ACA by now, in the push to get "single payer" fully socialized medicine in place.
They must be holding their cards until Obama leaves office.

From Germany to Greece, Europe is moving away from the encroaching public sector that has nearly destroyed the European Union.
So the trend of the world — even after the meltdown of September 2008 — is away from statism, except in the United States. I don’t say that lightly or as a slur, but empirically. The Obama administration has absorbed large sectors of the auto industry and some segments of banking and insurance. The student loan program is federalized.
I never understood cash for clunkers; it seemed flawed in every facet. If this administration has its way, it will hike income taxes and take off the caps on income subject to Social Security payroll taxes (potentially the largest tax increase in history) — part of an effort to redistribute income from the top to bottom brackets (40% of these income filers pay no income tax now at all). Inheritance, health care, and capital gains taxes are all slated to rise.
The failed British medical system is now our model. Yet even the pretense that it will save money is now abandoned.

From one failed system to another!
Short-Term Insurance...
The health insurance industry isn't going away—ironically—because there is a free-market solution to Obamacare. (that hasn't been outlawed by Obama:)
.
Obamacare is good for the industry! There is another catch to having short-term insurance: Customers still have to pay the tax penalty for not having ObamaCare insurance. That fine is $95 annually per person, although it has been waived for those who lost their insurance due to ObamaCare. But by the year 2016, it will rise to a more substantial $695 per person or 2.5 percent of your income (whichever is greater.)
But Kosloske of Health Insurance Innovations says even with the fine, it is still worth it for most people to go with temporary insurance for now, unless their income is low enough to qualify for the largest subsidies.
“Basically, people making $37,000 or less should go on ObamaCare. People with serious pre-existing conditions -- they should go on ObamaCare. But for everyone else, including the penalties and including the subsidies [for ObamaCare plans], we cost 30-50 percent less and have that freedom of choice with providers.”
Health Insurance Innovations estimates that the short-term insurance industry as a whole has grown at 20-30 percent over the last year since ObamaCare was implemented and that it currently accounts for about 17.5 million policies.

Obamacare is great for people who couldn't afford insurance. A bout with cancer can easily cost $1 million and up, but you don't care because you're on Medicare, that socialist government program you love to bash!! You also complain about the subsidies, as if you're not being subsidized on Medicare, but it's much wiser to subsidize people who buy insurance rather than give them free healthcare when they walk into an emergency room. The foundation of that argument was made by the Heritage Foundation and put in place by Mitt Romney, but you suddenly don't like it when Obama's name is attached to it.

Re: Senator Botches A Key Obamacare Stat
Despite all the change we have seen to healthcare care since 2010 including increased health insurance security protections and benefits, the expansion of Medicaid, and subsidized private insurance plans, which have reduced the proportion of Americans who are uninsured from 18.0% to 13.4%, public approval of the ACA has not increased since the law was enacted.
As it has been since it was signed, Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of Obamacare. The law hasn't even been fully implemented yet still most of us are far from happy with Obama or the Democrats for their law.
Obamacare is not the same as the Heritage Plan. The only thing similar is the mandate, so making a statement like you did suggests you didn't read the plan and are only parroting the liberal talking points....again.
Do you honestly believe giving free healthcare to millions will save money? Do you really believe that this will lower the amount of people using the ER as their PCP? Does that mean you are tired of the illegals who receive free medical care in our hospitals? Are we supposed to insure them as well?

I've long-supported the right of states to implement any program they want. Healthcare shouldn't be forced onto any American!News Buzzard wrote:You also complain about the subsidies, as if you're not being subsidized on Medicare, but it's much wiser to subsidize people who buy insurance rather than give them free healthcare when they walk into an emergency room. I'd like to know where you got that from—even our resident Stalker can't know—and I'd go outside the USA if a cancer treatment is denied to me by Obamacare.—or, more likely, "Single-Payer".News Buzzard wrote:Obamacare is great for people who couldn't afford insurance. Americans also overwhelmingly disapprove the repeal of Obamacare, so it stands as legislation in place which requires legislation to repeal. Show me a politician with the stones to take health insurance away from 10 million people! Not gonna happen!

You put it out there on the internet, CW. Don't flatter yourself by thinking I'm a stalker, and cancer treatment would only be denied by a fly by night policy not accepted by Obamacare.
