Detroit is broke.

WHY???

Liberals, Democrats and unions.

Detroit`s bankruptcy is due to the Democrat controlled government that for decades have spent the whole State of Michigan, as well as its cities into bankruptcy. Just as the present day Democrats & Obama Administration are spending our whole country into bankruptcy through reckless & unnecessary spending.

Much like California, Detroit's issues were based on circumstances built by overbearing union leadership. Spineless political leadership bend to unions because political leadership was able to "kick the can down the road", so to speak, in terms of pension fund negotiations. Pension issues had a significant impact on Detroit, and if CA can't tax their way out of their pension issue, they will have to claim bankruptcy as well.
Generous retirement packages for municipal employees, who took the money and ran.

Employee demanded big pay, big pensions and health care retirement plans. When they retired, they left the city. It’s hard to tax the rich when the rich leave. There is a lesson there.

Make no excuses.....liberal policies killed Detroit.

Business brings tax revenue. Lower the tax burden on business and an economy will thrive.

To lefties, that doesn't sound "fair". How "fair" is being unemployed?

You are so right. It is liberal politics. Nice dreams, but impossible. We probably will bail them out, (against our wishes) but as city after city files, how many are we going to be able to bail out?
